Thought it about time I prepared a dedicated thread for my GT. Purchased almost exactly a year ago now in April 2021. I did seek advice on here and it was subject to a PPI prior to purchase, which identifed a few issues and resulted in a reduced purchase price.
I have always lusted after a GT and am incredibly grateful to be in a position to now own one! It had to be in Bordeaux Pontevecchio with a light interior and I had found another in 2020 just as Covid hit. Sadly had to walk away from that one given the uncertainties at the time, but it didn't quite have the spec i wanted anyway.
The car has a few extras fitted including front parking sensors and a valved exhaust with remote.
Here she is post clean a few weeks ago.
She has had a fair amount of reactive and pre-empitve work over the last tweleve months to get her in a nice place in terms of maintenance and care. This has included (in chronological order):
Spent the rest of the summer enjoying the car until unfortunately in September someone drove into the offside front of the car whilst parked in a car park. Driver was a lovely guy and hung around waiting for me. I think he was more distraught that I was! Took an age to agree the repairs with the insurance but it all got sorted and they gave me an M4 comp as a temporary replacement. It was largely cosmetic with a crack to the bumper and slight dent to the offisde wing. Have some images somewhere that I will dig out.
Things took a turn whilst it was at Giallo for the repairs as they discovered a hole in the front subframe. Unfortunately what we had believed to be salvageable was in fact not.
At this point I was pretty disillusioned with the car so had the repair completed and the car returned with some thinking to do.
Thankfully some great service from the independant who did the PPI secured a nearly new subframe for a significant discount.
Given the work involved to swap the subframes over, it made sense to also undertaken some pre-emptive works in a bid to stay on top of things. On to Eurospare I went for the following:
There is however, no such thing as a 'free' lunch and upon the removal of the front springs, it became apparent that they had been replaced previously and that damage had occurred to the offside Skyhook strut during the process. It was now showing a fault due to an error with the voltage readings. A fix was unsuccessful so i also ordered a replacement strut which was duly fitted also.
- Skyhook front damper
This just about take us up to date and I am looking forward to another spring / summer!
