Opinions please guys not something I would normally dabble with but been offered one of these 2003 one owner from new and only 11000 miles. Off the road garaged and needs putting back on the road. I have put what I think is a cheeky bid in. Watch this space.

Good cars, especially on track. Have a word with GT Dan, he is wise in the way of such things.

As an ex Elise owner of 8 years, great cars :)
However, of course it has to be an S1 :) :)

Edit: Me and some mates having fun during some 'free time' on a Car Limits Driver Training day at North Weald Airfield. Feel safe uploading this now that all three of us don't have the cars in question anymore!

Phil, there were three JPS Elise....Two MRK 1's and a MRK 2...Which one are you looking at......The two MARK ones were either standard or 111s form....The 111s had more power. Always liked these Type 79 (mark1) and Type 72 (mrk2) models which is what they were called.

Think they made 100 type 72's for the UK awith around 150 world wide.....Nearly bought one myself but only had just bought my Type 25 Elise so wasn't the right time.

Ah just seen its a 2003 so a Mark 2 model.......Good old K series engine so not expensive to put right. Just need to make sure its no had accident damage as it the cars been bent they are not easy to put straight. Great cars Phil and if staright you will not have more fun on four wheels to be honest.

Some info on the car here..

Thanks for the info Andy much appreciated joys of working in a garage and people offering you motors. Realy want it now and best try it on track and then move it on. Although Miranda said how pretty it is so watch this space.

I would advise caution if it's only covered 11, 000 miles in nearly ten years.

I have heard of many occasions when a piece of garage jewelry has been driven properly for the first time and resulted in spectacular engine failure. My mate Steve that was on the Rockingham day in the blue S1 bought his '97 S1 with 20, 000 on the clock and put a con rod shaped hole in the side of the block on the way home.

Not mention that if will probably need a suspension refresh and new tyres if still on the originals.

I know you're very switched on with the oily bits Phil but these are the people that look after my car: http://backontrackmotorsport.co.uk/
Give them a ring and ask then their opinion. They're good blokes that would be more than happy to have a chat, if my name comes up they know me as dog food Dan as I sponsored their race car :)

I'm pretty sure the Type 72 spanned two model years so some have the long tail roof and some of the short tail roof which was on the later cars...Short tails are better.......If the one you are looking at is a 2003 its probably a short tail. Long tail is when its fixed to the rear buttress...short is when it just fits in the roof gap.....
