After considerable thought, I have decided to sell my Maserati GT S, I know its not the best time of year...

My plan is to sell it now and not buy a replacement until the spring.

The spec of my car is as follows;

May 2009

Nero Carbonio
Nero leather with yellow contracting stitching
Neptune wheels with yellow Callipers
Aluminium Pedals
Bose Sound with Aux in
Comfort Pack
Skyhook
Front/Rear Parking sensors
MC Shift

It has done 12,500 and has warranty until May 2014, excellent condition and new tyres on the rear, full Service History.

What do you think its worth Trade & Private?

Hate being first here but.....

Trade £48k
Private £51k

Probably worth the same in 4-5 months.

On reflection - and having driven in urban sport mode since I posted - I think that I might be £2k optimistic on both.

That's a big drop since I got mine in May, but Bob's estimate looks about right based on what dealers are asking. To what extent do these cars see seasonal shifts in price? We're coming up to the time of year when a fast, fat-tyred RWD car isn't the best choice...

I am not sure there is necessarily a good or bad time of the year to start advertising a Maserati. I reckon you should expect it to take several months to sell - perhaps even 6 or more if you are bullish on pricing.

Despite the weather, there is that lift you often get around the festive period due to the feel good factor and a few buyers possibly wanting to land something for Christmas. Even if you don't get a firm deal around this time you may well get calls expressing an interest, which may well turn out to be more serious propositions into the new year as the Spring approaches and the potential buyer has the itch to secure a car for when the weather turns. I think whatever you decide to do, patience will be the name of the game.

I would also agree with Bigbog that there may well be little change in the 'market price' between now and say Easter.

Without looking at all the detail, I would have thought it sensible to ensure you go in at just below the physiological 50k as an asking price.

How do those values compare with your thoughts?

To be honest the values are similar to my own thoughts. If I could sell it for £48-50k I would be happy, any lower, then I will hang on and wait until spring.

Thanks for the all the input.....

I would say the figures quoted are about right.Dealers would be asking north of £55k for your car, so take £6/7k off that to get a trade value of around £47/48k and add a few for a private sale (very difficult at the mo).I would advertise it at £49,950.00.
Looks like a lovely car btw, I'd be interested in it myself if I didn't need to P/X my R8.
