True but the issue is at GBP 25-30k they are a good buy and well priced without a lot of competition, at GBP 35-40K, you have a lot of other options that are a,s if not more, appealing.

Hi,

Just picked up this thread. Haven't read it in full so apologies if I repeat anything that has already been said.

The spyders are expensive because they are rare. It's simple supply and demand economics: not many come on the market, so if there are a few people looking for one then somebody will usually pay face value or near as to secure the sale ahead of the competition. By way of illustration, there are 88 GranTurismo's for sale on Pistonheads currently, and only 1 GranSport Spyder. Somebody will snap it up shortly.

Unfortunately, with a prestige marque like Maserati, for every person out there looking for a bargain there are two others looking for a toy and this will often be a second or third car, with money not necessarily being an obstacle.

The dealers and the specialists know the score, and they are rarely out with their pricing. If it is a little higher than expected, it is normally because it is a minter or there are very few others available at that time.

I nearly bought a spyder in July, more for novelty value as I haven't had one, but went in the end for another GS as winter is coming and I know the GS is a much tighter car.

Maybe give Dick Lovett Swindon a call. They offered me one a few weeks ago which never made it to the classifieds. Sounded like a good 'un but it was priced in the high 30's.

Any GranSport spyders in the 25-30k range will, rightly or wrongly, be high milers.

Why not consider a regular GranSport? Better handling and cheaper. Much more of a driver's car.

Well pur MS.......Pirces will always be high for the GS Spyder as you say because of supply..........They may take a while to sell sometimes but they do sell and prices show no sign of falling at the moment......
