Long beep & error code P0461

This morning took my 4200 for its MOT, and it was zero degree's outside.
Every 30 seconds there was a 2 second beep for the whole journey there and back. Not sure what it is telling me, no warning lights, maybe a reminder that it was below 3 degree's outside?

This was also the first time I had my OBD2 'Ultragauge' fitted, and it brought up a pending error code of P0461. This appears to be a fuel tank sender problem, maybe because it depletes the fuel tank too quickly?!! Again no dash error lights, you would not know about it unless you had a code reader plugged in while driving...does not call it up when stationary after starting up.

Oh, passed the MOT okay with no advisories. :)

Thanks.

Think the bleep is the below +3*...you may have been going into +4*, then +3* or lower areas.

Good news on the MOT

The thing is, I had a different bleep, and flash of ice warning when I first drove out of the garage into the cold. The long bleep every 30 seconds was a different tone. It was at zero degrees all the time I was driving her.

Yes happy about the MOT, it was the first time I could have a poke underneath. It is, just like new. I don't think it has seen a winter in the 10 years/13k miles, totally dry no leaks and the original zinc plating on the nuts etc, but no surprise that's why I bought her even though an early car.
Gave it a dam good pressure wash when I got home, unfortunate timing for the MOT to expire!

Does your ultragauge poll the ODBII port for information all of the time? I would be careful of this i am not sure all cars can cope with this. I frequently use my laptop and log information form the ODBII port but it does some times cause problems. try unplugging it and see if its better? The car does beep when the temperature drops but it should only do this once when it drops below 3C

oh and the book says \\\\P0461 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Range/Performance is it possible that your ultragauge is interfering with the fuel readings making the ECU think its faulty? Just a thought?

Valid points maybe, the ultragauge does poll the ODBII all the time.
To be honest I bought it first to check for error codes, before fitting my FD DBW module, and secondly as a digital dash instrument...more out of geekiness!
However already it is useful to see say the engine temperature as a digital readout, and see the temperature the electric fans cut in and out, for example (95 to 88), that the analogue gauge can not provide accurately (however how accurate the sender is can vary I guess)
