Worth a trip...Last UK motor show I went to was at the Excel when they tried to bring back the British Motor Show a number of years back....It was a flop and not a great day out.

I've got my ticket. I was unable to attend the recent NEC Classic Car Show for the first time in years and so I thought I'd give this one a try. 30 minutes around the North Circ. and I'm there.

It was small (just one hall at Excel) but high quality, mainly dealers and a few accessories stands. Pretty crowded when I went on Friday though quiet initially. Couple of hours was enough to see it. Maserati UK had a big stand (few other marques did) with two classics (5000 GT and 3500 GT spider) plus a new Ghibli. Some lovely but pricey stuff (Jag XK150S convertible restored on sale for £140K was lovely – a few yards away another dealer had a similar one for £265K!). The gimmick of the “Grand Avenue†was to show off cars driving, so they entered did a lap and then parked up so you could look at them later; not easy to see them in motion unless you forked out for the special ticket. Good bit was James May's curated collection of the most significant cars in history which was separate (no additional charge) and well done. It seemed to be a success and they say will do it again next year.

I went and it was not bad but quiet small. There was a queue for the James May car bit so I skipped that. The Maserati stand was well done and they also had a stunning Khamsin going up and down, even if it was outshone by the Lancia Stratos and a racing F 308. Its clear that prices have gone up an awful lot in the last year and dealers are now chancing their arms, with most cars over £50k listed as POA.

Yup had a great time. The Adrian Newey section was full of his old designs and was great to wander round. The cars driving up & down was a nice touch and let you hear the engines for a few moments, which is unusual for something like this.

Will go again.

Hopefully it will grow as it was quite small but worth the trip, however enjoyed Autosport far more but have always liked this one :auto2:
