Leaking valve cover seals

I've read that the 4.7 suffers from seeping/leaking valve cover seals and I learned today that my car has fallen prey to this issue. I have the car at the Maserati dealership in San Antonio, Texas, for an emissions recall and to have the yearly state inspection performed. As the CPO warranty (it's a joke) will expire in July, I asked the dealership to do a once over of the car and to let me know if any issues are found. I received a call from the service advisor today and was told that both valve covers are leaking. I've never smelled burning oil, but I do trust the dealership service department. Of course, the valve cover seals aren't covered by the CPO warranty, so I'll be out $2000 for the repairs. I could have the work done at an independent, but I really just want to get it done.

It's a shame that with just 24k miles on the clock, the valve covers are leaking. Ah, the joys of Maserati ownership!

It's pretty common on all of these engines because the amount of heat generated in the engine bay over time it dries out the gaskets, makes them brittle which causes them to leak.

$2k dollars is a lot of money though! On the 4200 series it takes 6 hours labour... I did mine myself and it took more like 12 hours but it saves a lot of money as the parts are less than £100

Is this the same as Cam cover gaskets? Mine were leaking ~60Kmiles and they suggested to change the plugs while they were there.

Consider using an independent specialist. Most of the cost is in labour rate. A main dealer's labour rate will be considerably more than that of an independent.
