Lack of car magazines

Use the Tescos in Fulbourn near Cambridge and use to treat myself to a classic car magazine now and again, they’ve hardly got any in there now. There was one copy of Classic & Sports Car and a Classic Car Weekly paper yesterday.
Suppose just the sign of the times.

Everything going digital but Sportscar & Classic is still my must have and regular subscription means it arrives every month in the post. I think I am about 8 months behind on reading but that's not the point I get there eventually.

The market just seems to be getting smaller and smaller as every year goes by. I used to but them all the time and had an EVO subscription but I have not bought one for years as you can get it all on line these days and just not worth the expense for me every month.

I picked one up a while back, £6.99, put it back

Rising costs have killed magazines for retail, subscription is much cheaper than picking one up in a newsagents

Before leaving the UK I subscribed to C&SC for over 25 years and wish that I'd kept them just to look at the classifieds.
Nothing nicer that a bit of me time with a good glossy magazine but times have changed.

I'd go a stage further , I dont subscribe to any magazine or News paper for information .......it just doesn't seem good value anymore IMHO

I've got dozens of them, some going back to the 1970's. They often lead to earache, so one day........

I have a complete set of C&SC from 1994 to the present day and occasionally pick up the earlier ones I am missing - surprising how many times I go back to them to read articles. My favourite is an early 250 GTO road test where they had 3 cars on the shoot and were concerned that they had to put in place £2m insurance cover :)

I‘ve subscribed to Classic&Sportscar and EVO for the last 20 years. The cost per magazine is buttons, cheaper than one large Costa coffee a month!
Plus I get the magazines from my owners club memberships - Maserati, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Westfield. (Opinions on club fees vary, but at an annual cost of less than a pub lunch for 2, it’s something I’m happy to pay.)

As an online-only subscription I also get a Porsche magazine (though I forget the exact title).

I tend to read these when travelling, rather than when at home.

No market now. I recently moved and had hundreds of Classic Cars and SC&C's from the 80s onwards. Advertised them free, tried to take them to local historic and vintage vehicle clubs, no one wanted them. All went to recycle :(

I’m probably in the minority but prefer printed media as spend to much time looking at screens.
Picked up a practicle classics and motor mechanics to go back to work with yesterday.
Also I keep the old ones as I’ll have forgotten the articles after a year or so might pick and re-read one at random . Trying to store them on a decent spot is one issue.
the historic prices in the classifieds is very interesting

I'm the same.
I remember for a period buying 3 or 4 car mags a month and similar before that with motorbike mags. They car mags did get a bit samey with their Triumph Stag and Porsche 911 articles.

There is a market. Copies of old SC&C tend to go for around cover price on EBay, as can articles cut neatly from them. Since buying my Urraco I’ve tracked down and bought (on EBay) about 10 old magazines with reviews of them.

In theory I could advertise hundreds of old magazines and/or specific articles, but I’ve not got the time nor will to do the cataloguing, advertising, packing, posting, etc. Maybe a holiday job for my student daughter?

Auto Italia, EVO and occasionally Car. I recall moving house and I had about 6 boxes of car magazines...my friend helping me wasn't impressed when he discovered what was in the heavy boxes he was carrying up 8 flights of stairs to my top floor flat.
