Just went through 40k miles - is my car now worthless?

As it says. To my mind, specialist performance cars (Porsche apart) seem to become less attractive in the trade once they go through 40k and then 50k. Let's see how it goes!

Thats one of the main reasons we've bought them BB...cos...they drop like a lead balloon in value.....otherwise we'd be driving...10 yr old Porkers.....( not the same huh?!!)

But if FSH, good condition, then you get back their true value.....ok...you bought it for 20K......2 yrs later....15 k miles futher on...worth as an 8 year old car 13/14K.......seems about right......

Fair point Frank.

Not sure when you bought your car BigBob but I did the maths when I bought mine and reckoned that the depreciation would be less than on my 156, so I get Maser motoring for lower depreciation than a 156 - sounds fine to me. I could have reduced the depreciation further by getting a 3200 but the facelift 4200 was what I decided on, as did you, you pay your money you take your chance........

Fair points both of you. I paid £22500 for my 05 05 facelift 4200 at four years old and 30k miles. 17 months and 10k miles on I feel ok with that.

I'd love to be turning 40 again. Fond financially viable memories. Hay-ho, 70 looms large and it'll just be outlay, endless outlay, year after year after year after year.

Still I drive a Maserati, so life is good. :)

Hehe, was talking about the number of K's on my car P and its now miniscule residual value. :)

With that said I genuinely can't remember how old I am, so senility's definitely on it's way, but somewhere in mid to late 40's. I'll ask Mrs Tee when she gets back from galavanting.

Per the other thread Bob you will have seen the 30k 2005 manual for sale at £19k in the Sunday times, about right for a private sale if interested in selling.

I am keeping mine through to next spring then will have a think. Really fancy a GranTurismo and the 4.2 might be ok for my needs but they will have to be much nearer £40k to tempt me in.
