I always go straight battery to battery connection, in fact I had to exterior start our 3200 this morning and used our made for the job charger with start facility, all was fine.

I have started my 4200 once using a heavy duty charger with start facility.
No issues but as stated, not recommended in the owners manual.

I think Maserati are trying to cover all the bases, I really can't see any technical issue with it.

Must admit I fail to see why it could be a problem. Definitely should never be any issues with using a booster battery, it's only like replacing the car battery. And provided you get a good connection from the other car, i.e. battery to battery I fail to see why that should cause a problem either. Anyone ever found a link that gives a reason?

Please see page 2, post 18 - some have reported that fuses were blown.

I suppose that could happen if the earth were placed off battery somewhere, but straight to the battery should be fine.
