Just got an iPhone 6. Realised today that the USB socket in the glove box does not charge the phone.

I assume everyone else's is like that as well and you end up using the cigarette adapter?

Or is there a workaround?

Have you turned on the USB socket in the dash display?
Is there such an option? I use the USB to transfer music to the Jukebox and also play music from a USB stick but failed to charge phone and iPad from it. For charging I've had to use the cigarette lighter

I only use it to charge my iphone but then again I have the ipod adapter - do you have that?

FWIW there is a function in the Sound menu to turn the usb port on and off. The rationale for it being off when not in use is that it does not toggle through usb when you press the Source button.

Where in the sound menu is it? I just spent the last 10mins in the car to see if I can get it to work. I have the full use functionality - shown by the3 pronged symbol. But when I scroll through sources it does not show USB. In fact when go through the menu the USB option is greyed out and I cannot access it.

Err ok I hit menu. Then it comes up with 7 symbols. I pick audio functions? It says USB but is greyed out. If I go configuration, sound the only options I am given are
- voice command settings
- speech synthesis setting
- instrument panel buzzer volume

Do you get some different functions under the sound options?

Mine has those 3 and then the aux option at the bottom (2011 GTS Auto). I have the iPod lead so it plugs into two sockets in the glovebox. Not sure how it explains it the problem mind!

Thanks. I have that lead as well. Is there a way to find out what firmware the system is? Very strange.

Hi Shiftme

I have the same as you, Ive found that my USB is faulty and it has to go back in to be repaired. I have USB greyed out, it won't charge the phone, doesnt read the USB Stick etc.

Ok. I need to get a USB stick to try it. I have an old iPod somewhere.

If its not charging a phone then no power getting to the USB socket, either not plugged into back of unit or something wrong with the wiring. In mine the AUX works but not USB, its a job that is getting done under warranty cover when it goes in for the cabin noise to be fixed.

Challenge is have to take the glove box apart and more than likely its something daft like it was never plugged in... like my badge which is missing the red stripes :)

Bigbob - bizarrely. Today when I was cycling through the media system I had the AUX option. So I turned it on. Still no USB though. All I think it did was activate the 3.5mm phono jack.

I was at Maranello yesterday and was asking the tech there and he said it only works with the old iPhone adapter with audio jack - which I have. But it means that only older style apple products will work and that it doesn't output sound to the USB only though the headphone socket!

How bizarre.

I tried a USB stick as well. Zero joy.

Strange! I have a USB stick in my Land Rover which works fine. I have tried it in my GranTurismo and it will only list all tracks (say 500) in alpha order whereas it presents them in artist and album order in the other car. Still they do work in a form.

Sweet. I got it to work in the end with a USB stick. I think I had to use a smaller one and had to shut down the AUX restart the car and turn AUX back on and it recognised it. I now have memory stick functionality.

Thanks
