HELP NEEDED!

To all the young Maser drivers out there, i'm 24 and have been roaming for quotes on a 3200 gt. Adrian flux quoted £2000, footman james refused based on age, admiral wanted £6000 etc etc etc.. Any advise is gratefully recieved!

Thanks in advance!

Avoid Admiral looking at your quotes. £2k seems ok for what the car is and the fact age is against you. My 17 y/o nephew has just been quoted over £1200 for a 1.0 Corsa.

You could try for a limited mileage policy, it may help. I wouldn't suggest one of those black box thingy on a 3200 as the turbos spooling up will no doubt send it into a hissy fit (along with your insurer).

The only company that would insure us was first direct. And then I limit my mileage as well to 4K.

You should also try Sky Insurance as well and speak to Luke Tillbrooke. On occasions he has found me a good deal.

I've always had good luck (and am currently insured with) Direct Line.. they're not on the comparison sites so you'll have to fill in your details on their website directly...

I'm 35 now, but when I had my previous Mazzer at 30 they did a good price and that's not garaged, business use and normal mileage (12k per year).. currently costing me £300 annually.

2K doesn't sound too bad, i remember paying over 1K for an old classic range rover 10 years ago when at a similar age to yourself.

It was soon down with a couple more years NCB.

Try limiting the miles or times of use, like not after 9 or 10pm then not before 6am, I have heard this can be offered to young drivers.

You definitely don't want a black box (blondes for me!) that has got trouble written all over it.

Who did you go with in the end? Any good deals?

Would be helpful for me when I need to renew.

Adrian flux were great and very reasonable after a chat to a manager! Included modifications in the price, factory non thatcham alarm and my age considered and it was just over 1 grand..

That's not bad, I have an admiral multi car for 900 quid with our 3 cars. But both me and the wife over 35.

Good. Might need to look into that again when I come to renew. Though I think i did contact them last year. But I don't think they accepted us as my wife only just had 2 years driving experience.
