Ineos Grenadier and flipping

I have never fancied a 4x4 SUV of any description, but I have to say the new defender may well tempt me at some point - very cool
I think they are a good car but don’t you think they’re incredibly uncool? They are bought by people who are trying really too hard to be cool, which clearly brings them back into the uncool bracket. Reminds me of a programme a friend’s brother made for the BBC a few years back, ‘The Search for Cool’; he concluded that those who didn’t try were usually the cool ones.

Down in SA the new Defender is hot, flipping happening all the time as it takes 8 months to get a new one. Even young Range Rovers have a premium of up to 10k at the moment, I was looking to replace my X5 but will probably wait till the market here has cooled down

Good point, but whereas I can’t ever see myself I a RR Sport, I can see myself in one of these…….
a full fat RR might be another option at some point.

The key difference is in how they drive. The full fat version is designed to be a luxurious and wafting way to travel. The Sport is a bit more for the driver, being more sporty (in relative terms, of course). For me, the proper RR is the one, as I have no desire to drive this type/size of car in a sporty fashion. So, I waft about in my RR, whereas I drive my 911 (for example) in a more spirited style.

Other than the split boot lid, what are the differences? Other than aesthetic? Genuine Q, btw, I have no idea!
Overall build quality and finish, ride, spec, it’s just always a nice place to be. They have their issues, engines being a big one, and they’re huge things but if you’re after a big luxury suv they take some beating.

I believe that core to the design brief for the 'full fat' RR is it's unquestionable off-road ability.
It'll tow three and a half tons I think and it's sn@tch rating is even more. I might have that the
wrong way about but either way, not much else will do that and at the same time, happily
be driven into Buckingham Palace to be met by the King.
I'm considering a Disco 4 or a RR 4.4 TDV8 out of necessity, so I'll let you know how I get on,
if anyone's interested. I suspect it'll be the RR. Currently, they seem like spectacular value for
money second hand.

Well it's here! Currently sat at the dealer awaiting a SW update and some issues with DVLA being able to register it, should get to collect it in the next couple of weeks apparently. Then it will be a case of 'stick or twist' - have a feeling I will end up sticking

Controversial colour I know.....IMG-20230331-WA0000.jpgIMG-20230331-WA0001.jpgIMG-20230331-WA0002.jpgIMG-20230331-WA0003.jpgIMG-20230331-WA0004.jpg

It's not a looker is it?
However would I pick this or a Defender to take me across the Sahara alive?
Sadly not the Defender, and the Ineos isn't even proven, and is French built too...some thing wrong there really.

I think it’s okay from the side and back (where it looks like the old Defender). But from the front it’s hideous, which is one of the reasons I cancelled my order and reclaimed my deposit.
