Anyone know what the law is concerning these devices? With the state of the roads and the increasing numbers of foreign drivers getting it wrong, I am thinking of having one for the Strad. My main concern is that in the event of an accident or moving traffic incident, do the police have the right to seize the camera as evidence? There could theoretically be instances of "over-exuberant" driving recorded for instance. Thoughts?

Morning Yeti. My understanding is that should you happen to be in possession of evidence of such as might prove valuable in assessing liability, fault, recklessness and so on in the event of an accident then you are obliged to make that evidence available to the police. If you fail to do that or if you destroy the evidence then a custodial sentence is a possibility.

I think the answer to your question is yes. It could bite you in the ar5e, but only if you misbehave and it all goes pear-shaped.

Sadly I am guilty of occasionally getting excited and pushing the pedal a tad too far. Would hate to be given a tug for speeding and have them take the camera. Could be very damming.

Just have a very short loop...last 60 seconds should be ok...after that the old data will be gone (sorry could not help that) as it would be written over.

Good advice there Peter, I need to pass that onto my brother in law. He's just ordered a new Golf R so will need to watch that right foot of his!

Get one without gps.
In an accident you know where you are, and no evidence of speed to possibly incriminate you maybe before the accident.
It will record video to show someone cutting you up, hitting you, thats all you want really?
