In car DAB Digital radio

With the switch off of analogue allegedly about 4 years away it got me thinking about in car radio stuff and how we would cope on our Massers.

Also with my MW signal not being great I was thinking about putting in some unobtrusive DAB radio kit. Not looking to replace head unit or anything but maybe one of the add on units you see from people like PURE.

Looking more at the breadth of channels than anything else but being able to hear the sport in better quality would be nice. Yes I know I could open the window and listen to the V8 but this is for the times I need a change of soundtrack!

Anyone got any experience of these units?

Cheers

Dave

Good point, I have just bought a Becker Grand Prix with bluetooth phone kit. I was planning to move this from car to car but it now appears that it wont work in 4 years time...bummer.

Must admit, I have no idea of DAB, so Ill keep an eye on this thread. It will be bizarre that all car radios wont work in 4 years time, cant see it myself.

I use a Pure Highway add on unit on my 5 series - don't listen to music in the 3200 as it detracts from the engine note which I never get bored of! It also doubles up as a portable system. Quality is good and with a built in system like mine upgrading the head unit is not an option - just make sure you experiment with the antenna position before you finally stick it to the windscreen. Downside/upsides are a similar argument to TomToms vs factory fitted satnavs.
