Well it sold for £49600... a bargain on the face of it. My heart is a bit gutted I didn't put a bid in.... but my head is glad as I just wasn't reassured about the provenance and without a ppi it was beyond my risk appetite. Oh well...

A lot of dealers I would imagine buy off these auction sites and turn a profit. Me I would never buy a car like this from an auction. Don’t like them and they are full of the unknown. You need piece of mind when buying these cars and these sites do not fill me with that. I see even Pistonheads has jump in the auction band wagon now.

He who dares wins.
I think that could be a loss.

The market for classic and high end cars is incredibly slow and anyone interested in a Stradale will have seen the Collecting Cars auction so it won't be selling within the next 3-4 weeks that's for sure.

I also imagine Stradale buyers are particular about service history etc.

So with used car prices falling quickly and a car the will take a while to sell, that could be sold at a loss, plus all the lost opportunities to have used the cash to buy and sell more cars it's not a good move.

It only takes one person who really wants it. It is a "find another one" car especially in thar colour.

But, yeah, the market does seem to have slowed considerably with stuff that used to sell immediately hanging around. Dealers seems to have dropped their bids on cars but not dropped their retail prices and the spread is increasing - a sure sign a downward market correction is taking place.

Remember that white Stad with the blue interior, that was for sale for nealy 18 months at a dealer near me, he eventually put it in CC auction and it sold to a dealer in Wales who sold it for very nearly the same price the Swindon dealer had it up for with in weeks. It only needs one person to see it on the forecort, like it, maybe not do their homework and boom .. profit made. But I agree it may be hanging around for a while while we watch the price come down, and down ...

That was a much less desirable car IMHO.
