I have decided that when i get the funds i am going to purchase a Lotus Elise as my first sports car as i am sure it will give me a great insight into how cars handle and it packs a nice amount of power, hope to get one at about 23-26, i am sure Andy will agree with me as i know he quite likes Lous.

something like this.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../radius/1500/postcode/cw25gg/page/1?logcode=p

Probably around the right time to get one Adam , Both my lads were driving a 17 and within a year soon got fed up with carting too many of their mates about , funny how when you mobile how many new found friends you make who need lifts everywhere, a two seater is certainly a good excuse, the handling a bonus ,

Seemed to think i came from a blessed era , had many nice sports cars when i was younger and a few powerfull old Jags and Daimlers , and the odd Mustang , my insurance premiums were never that high or didn't appear to be extortionate , unlike my two lads , now its a case of choosing the car you want to drive against the insurance policy you can afford , atleast till your 25 , in my day you just bought the car you wanted and insurance was just a formality

regards loz

i knew you would like it, i specifically want the 111R as it has a nice slug of power (189 BHP :D) and with a decent S1 Elise 118bhp costing about 10-12K, i think the S2 is the better buy for that bit more money, and yeah i would turn to you for advice as you have owned several.

The 111R is a fast car and a bit more usuable for everyday use....The only thing I would look for is one that has had the ECU changed which was a Lotus upgrade...A standard car had the 2nd cam come on at 6200 revs whwere as the ECU change took it to around 5600 I think and the performance was much more on tap....

No but the S2 Exige I had has the same power...The difference is the Exige grips more...I went to Donnington with Lotus and I couldn't believe how different the 111R and Exige was on track.....Exige much quicker with it's slick type tyres and down force...stunning....When the 2nd cam does hit the is amazing.....there is a real shove and it's like you get all the power again.

Exige S is the one i would like to own the most, probably in either Laser Blue, Orange or Saffron Yellow. yum yum :D

Yes with power pack......If it was a choice of a 111R or standard S2 Exige for me the Exige everytime....but I can understand someone taking the Exige for the roof off experience.

My local dealer has one of those...JPS colour scheme....Saw one at Auto Sports this year as well. Its an Exige 260 Type 72..50 made. They have been out for a while and I don't think they are selling well. I'm not sure of it...There are better ones out there.....Lotus make loads of special editions, I should know I've had one of their specials.....

I like this one....would like to order a 2-11 and design it in the F1 colours...

Chris Neil....Ah memories...I bought my Esprit from them back in 1996...

I am very jealous of the cars you have had, is the green elise a TYPE 25? is the Yellow Elise S2 a 111s? and is the silver s2 a 135R? also i like the Exige a lot, is that a 190 touring, it is a bit low key, thought you would have orange or something like that, my favourite it the T350 by a long way, got i love that car, just out of interest what is your occupation?

OK...Loads of questions..

First..I work for ASDA. I'm a Transport Operations Manager for the Ambient product iin the South West/South Wales.

The Exige - Yes Orange would have been nice but my local dealer had the car in stock at a great price and I must say I loved it. It was a 190 tourer as you say.

Silver blue is a 135R....My fav mrk2...Great colour...Slightly under power but handled like a dream.

Yellow S2 was one of the first S2's and was race tech.

Green was a Type 25...Lovely car....the chap who had it of me wrote it off.

The T350T is a stunner....Much better than the Tamora/Cerb etc as far as reliability is concerned...Bloody fast but in the real world the M5 is as fast. It was not an easy car to drive fast but was devastating when you got it right. I used it everyday and that was the problem as it took 30/45 mins to warm up before you could give it some. But yes a stunning looking car.
