I see it’s 1990 all over again

Those of us who remember the classic car boom of the late 80s will remember the crash circa 1990 and dealers/private sales still after top money when the market was tumbling. Well it seems the market is in a similar position with expensive high end cars. As Maserati prices have been pretty stagnant during this latest boom I don’t think it will affect them much.

Apart from MC20. They seem to be dropping like a stone and high price ones just not selling. Anyone who pays 328k for the red 2023 MC20 Cielo for sale at a dealer when you can get a 2022 Coupe for 150k must be bonkers. You would need a hefty discount surely before parting with your cash.

I'm not sure the selling prices of the older 3200 4200 models have changed much over the last ten years, maybe the asking prices. My Assetto Corsa is probably worth much the same as I paid for it in 2012.

If I had left my cash in the bank it would have lost almost as.much as the depreciation of the Maseratis... and as I'm not selling them any time soon it makes no difference how the market responds.

My investment is in my pension not my fleet.

Yeah the high end have took a hit Andy but like 1990 there will still be chancers for a year or so trying to convince would-be-buyers the market is still very buoyant.

At the Maserati main dealer I visited yesterday, they had just sold a red Cielo and were doing the final pre-delivery checks. Looked fabulous. Sounded good too.
Obviously they are not cheap (and will depreciate heavily), but if you've got the money, what new convertible (at the £300k approx mark) would you have instead? I can't think of anything from Ferrari, Porsche, MacLaren, Aston or Lambo I'd take over the MC20 Cielo.

The black MC20 at HR Owen for £150K hasn't changed price in months.
Let's see what happens in Jan/Feb if they still have it then.

I saw them put the price on it up to 155 for a short period then back down to 150 then it was removed. Be surprised it sold though tbh and suspect it may reappear at some point
