How do South Africans spend a sunny Friday afternoon while on leave?

Standing by waiting for the flatbed to arrive.

What they don't tell you about Maserati ownership:

1) Open an account with a towing company
2) Ensure your dealer's on speed dial
3) There IS some sort of sado-masochist fetish in there somewhere

Less than a month after the QP made it's way back to the dealers on a flatbed, the same thing has happened again: a myriad of lights came on and the car died, giving me just enough time to pull into a cul-de-sac. And I'm afraid, that's exactly as the sign below says - it's a dead end.

The QP HAS to go - can't do this anymore.

Funnily enough I was visiting a good friend of mine this morning that heads up a group of local Mercedes-Benz dealerships and saw a gorgeous S500 on the floor. I liked it, but wasn't convinced. I am now. Stuff the hand built low volume purgatory and bring on the mass produced, bland yet reliable, mediocrity.

went through the same thing with mine but in the end I paid a lot to get it sorted and then gave me 4 years of no issues

Very sorry to hear this Grant, what an awful experience. It's no comfort to you of course, but I am sure yours is an isolated case and could happen to any car. In fact, I had a Nissan Pathfinder (mass produced, mediocre) and suffered the same, constant unreliability - it too had to go but a friend had one which was perfect, just bad luck I guess.

Always looking for a positive though, looking at your photo, at least the sun's out - it's chilly here and already dark at 4pm - good luck with your next purchase

Nightmare, get rid!!! Incidentally the S classes are phenomenal and great value for money second hand!
Cheers Wattie

Sorry to hear that, Grant. Looks like kakky luck on that one but I doubt many of us would put up with that kind of reliability. I love SA but there are parts of your country where breaking down would not be good. Whatever you get next I hope it brings you many miles of delight.

Had mine new since 07. Done most of Europe many times with no issues and put 57k on the clock with a smile on each one. Best time I've had with my clothes on in 50 years of motoring.
Sh1t happens as they say............no need for me to tell you that though..eh

I agree the car is c r a p and time to go...yes we love the brand, but it is a car and first and foremost its there to drive...if it cant do that with a degree of certainty its no use to anyone except as a nice thing to look at.
