It's been chucking it down and consequently there's a lot of large puddles out there. Now we've all heard, seen or suffered of water locked engines, well I thought my time had come today.
Needing to get to Silverstone for a particular time this morning we stayed in a hotel up the road in Roade, nice place just 20 mins away from the track. This meant I stuck to the motorway yesterday avoiding the puddles, but this morning I knew I had to be careful as some back roads were necessary.
Sure enough, within a few miles we encountered a flood so big we had to turn round. Hmm, not an issue we'd given ourselves 40 minutes for this.
Next route same thing, but this time as time was ticking on I thought it through. Left hand side up on the payment, no other traffic so no waves and a dead crawl. Phew survived.
Lot's of dodging others on the way until Silverstone. We were directed the long way round the track as the short way was flooded..... And so was the long way!
Again the right hand side was put in the deep and the left in the shallow. Survived again.
Turned up at the event shaking a little at the thought of what could of happened. Perhaps that made me a little less gung-ho (my normal self) on the track today and improved my lap times.
