Homeless wire and plug?

I have the following homeless wire and plug dangling under my dashboard, any clue as to whether it should have a home?
Also in the shot is my aluminium air condition pipe, that condenses up with water and drips on my foot, should it be insulated?
Thanks
Mike

First off, the foot drip thing, my GS did this, so I had a look. It was indeed condensation drips. My pipes were lagged with a black foam/neoprene cover. Mine had a tear in it, and this is why it dripped. I gaffer taped it up, and it improved it, but did not cure it completely. So in answer to your question, yes, it should be lagged. I can only assume they started lagging the pipes at a later date, or your pipe has been replaced and they did not bother to replace the lagging.

Now the multi plug, thats an interesting on.

If your car is functioning fine, then its obviously not needed, but annoying isnt it. You can have cruise a cruise control stalk fitted to the steering cowling, and the wiring is all there, but if you put 2 and 2 together, I am going to take a punt and say its the wiring for the dash sunshine sensor. If the dash has been out and the air con messed with, then this looks the right plug.

If you whip your dash top off, you might get a better idea of what it goes to.

It could of course just be a redundant plug from the hifi or a service extra which your care does not have.

How many terminals does the plug have, I can see it only has 2 or maybe 3 wires.

It's 2 wires a green and a blue, into a plug that is for 3 wires, but only 2 terminals are used.
My car has cruise that is working fine.
It only drops out of the main loom no more than 4 inches, it's not long enough to go anywhere.
I've attached another picture, sorry quality not that great!
Its easy to see putting your head under the dash...

Thanks
Mike

Hum, I would think that maybe something did not work so its been disconnected maybe.

More likely some work has been carried out and its been missed. I looks like the wire to the clove box light but I suppose it is not going to reach.

Glove box light works.
It does not appear long enough to connect to anything.
If I had another 4200 parked next to mine, I could determine where it goes, if at all, in seconds!
Thanks,
Mike

I don't think its necessary to remove the top of the dash, the plug is much lower down, will have to get my head right under with a good torch first!
Yes can see the air con pipe is not lagged in your photo's. Studying the photo will have to check the air con drain pipe...I assume the air con drain pipe just pushes into the part that you removed with the grommet piece?
Thanks
Mike
