Hi everyone.....I seem to have an issue on my hands. Wondering if anyone here has any contacts or knowledge...
I have just purchased a classic car from a chap down South...towards Southampton. Car is in a secure storage facility. The intention was I would simply keep it there until I was ready to ship it to Australia in 4 months time. Now that I have purchased the car, the storage facility is kind enough to tell me that I need insurance. A slight hiccup - not only because the first they tell me of this is after I have done the deal (and I have spoken with the storage facility on a number of occasions), but because i would have hoped that the price I am paying includes their insurance, as indeed they do have insurance. (I'm at a loss to understand the purpose of their insurance...which they say covers their client's cars....if they then expect clients to double up with the insurance).
Here is where it gets tricky.....as an Australian resident, the first three companies I have contacted have all stated that they cannot provide insurance to a non-resident of the UK. These were Adrian Flux, HCI and Lancaster.
So either I find an insurance company who can provide me a policy despite being a non-UK resident...or I find a storage facility that does not require that I furnish my own insurance.
Does anyone have any knowledge or contacts (referrals) that may be of assistance to me?
Cheers,
Foibles
