Hi

New to the forum, have been looking for a new car and need 4 doors (2 kids), saw a QP the other week and seems a good option, beautiful cars and love the noise. I currently drive an MB C Class estate "zzzzzzzz".

Will probably ask some silly questions but like to thoroughly research before buying so I get a good one, it is top of my list at the moment

Cheers, I have already done some research and want to go for a ZF Auto equipped car to avoid any expensive clutch replacement problems, not bothered about fuel as have previously run Imprezas so quite used to 15mpg and only do a small mileage with the occasional run.

A warm welcome to the forum J, you should find all the information you are seeking on here and owners of the type of car you are searching for to ask questions of. You could not go far wrong than to make contact with Dicky at Richard Grace Cars. He is a member on here and a sponsor, but get's hold of some terrific cars and they are tip top when you finally get hold of what you want. He will search around for you if you tell him what you want and your budget.

Many thanks for the recommendation Hodroyd.

JBell, I've a lovely Quattroporte in stock at the moment but if that's not for you, I'm more than happy to find you the right car. Quattroportes are fantastic cars if you get a good one, far more soul than a Merc so I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision.

Thanks for that, a but above my budget at the moment, need to save some more pennies (as my 2 year old would say), will keep an eye out though and when the time comes give you a shout.

The Merc is a fill in car as its easy to get baby parafinalia (SP??) in

What are insurance / running costs like?

Insurance is usually sub £600 if you've a decent history and live in a good area, most QP owners do;)
Running costs, around £600pa for an independent service and little else so long as you have a good car in the first place. The Quattroporte is a reliable car, especially the later models.

Ideally we all recommend a full indie inspection.....costs a few hundred quid.......plus brake replacement is quite expensive as is clutch..

I would do that as a matter of course, the car would also have to have FSH and receipts for everything done, I am a stickler for detail, if a Duoselect then it would have to come with a clutch wear report. Also proof the F1 pump and sender had been done on all cars

plus brake replacement is quite expensive as is clutch..

This is why I would like a ZF equipped auto, brakes are very expensive, was quite shocked at the price of disks on the sport model!!!!!!!

JBell,
If you get the car from such as Dicky, or one of the Independents, they are usually checked out anyway, other sources you would need an independent inspection as an absolute must.
Cheers
