Nero Carbnio (carbon black to non-Italians :) ) was the most popular colour, with Grigio Touring a distant second place.

Re the white cars, there was actually 6white cars in total - 5 in Bianco Fuji and one in Bianco Eldorado. Fuji is pearlescent and is the colour I looked for for around 18 months, 12 of which was seriously hanging out/desperate to buy one. Eldorado is a solid white colour.

I've seen the Eldorado car for sale (around 2-3 years ago IIRC so it might be due to come up again). Of the 5 Fuji cars, I located 4/5 of them, one of which was for sale but at a comedy premium (like £5k over its worth) so gave up.

Happy hunting, and welcom to the forum, good to have you here.

Ian...will post up a list of indie garages.......for you to check over....should be 1 or 2 near hopefully, if you take car to them....quite a bit cheaper than if they have to go to it.

Thanks for that, I'm hoping to go and look at a car next week that is advertised by someone on that list :)

Probably a Gransport. Although there is the temptation to get a 4200 & have a few pennies left over for some starting mods :)

Not a bad idea...........a few more grand....same performance..........sounds as good...perhaps handles as well.....

....and you can get a manual!

IMO, money aside, the only reason to chose a 42 over a GS is to get Manuel.

Is the GS box any good or is it quite jerky?

How do these cars cope with being left outdoors all year round? And also being left for a few weeks at a time?

It will be my play time car, so will only get used on dry weekends that I'm not working on - the rest of the time it will live outside as I could barely fit a MX5 in my garage let alone a Maserati :)

Got some valuable information so far though & will hopefully drive my first one next week :D

Biased? Moi!? :)

No, seriously, if money is no object and you're splitting the two, I think the deciding factor would absolutely be whether or not you want a manual (and yes, both need to be tried!). The GS didnt come in manual, so if you decide you want a manual, that's the GS out. If you do want a manual and would like a GS, buy a late 4200 GT and do some tweeks/cosmetics and you'll pretty much get a Manual GS.

If, however, you dont want a GS and don't know which 4200 you want - a GT or a CC - then try both, absolutely.

Yes, the gearbox is a little jerky but learning to drive it will smooth it out and, so I'm told and plenty on here can testify, the FD DBW (Formula Dynamics Drive-by-wire) module transforms the gearbox. I find its left wanting in stop-start traffic, but other than that, I think its superb. But as stated above, you must try it first.

As for keeing them outside, there have been forum members who have. I kept mine outside through the snow over the winter (I'd not cleared the garage!) and it started first time, everytime, even having left it for 2+ weeks (don't think I got to 3 weeks). A battery conditioner would help if its going to be standing for a long time.

Here's a gratuitous pic of mine in the snow.

I did not find the GS box jerky at all..It was a slow box though.....Still fun though...

Between DMS...sport mode and learning how to drive the car and it "learning" your driving technique....then the CC box can be pretty quick and fluid ........

The two gearboxes are effectively the same...the CC a hydraulically assisted (robotised) version of the manual.

For the manual, it needs to warm up first...can be quite knotchy/slow in throw.....grand when warm, 2ndly, every once in a while the cables need adjusting to keep the change sweet.

I kept mine outside all winter, didn't drive it much....best to check how old the battery is in the one you buy as they don't much like batteries which aren't in tip top condition....conditioned as mentioned is a good idea.

Just thought I would update you all my findings so far :)

I've driven a couple of Gransports now & Just never clicked with any of them - There was something amiss, i can't tell you exactly what it is because I don't know myself. I love the way they look, sound, drive & accelerate - It just lacked that spark I was looking for.

So what did I end up with? I imported myself a R34 GTR Skyline which I collect next week - sods law that on my daily flick through of GS on PH I find a white one for sale :( Maybe getting one in the colour I really wanted would have provided that spark?

I'm sure I will get a Maserati at some point in the next few years, hopefully a Gran Turismo if prices take a big enough hit.

Thanks for everyones help & advice - In particular the guru Woody :D

I'll be sticking around though, keeping an eye on prices ;)

Hi Ian, pretty sure that the colour wouldn't have made a difference...If you didn't get on with the way the car drove then it probably isn't for you...Congrats on you purchase and hope tp see you in a Gran Turismo aome day.
