Hello everyone. I've just signed up to the forum - not yet a Maserati owner but looking!
I love Italian cars - previously owned a Lancia Delta then Alfa 166 (not mentioning a Fiat 125 as my first car :D). Maserati is my favourite and I've always dreamed about driving/owning one.
I finally came to a point to make a decision whether to get one and I am thinking about a QP V post 2009. I live in London, the car would be for weekend drives - fun car basically - not doing a lot of miles annually.
I have just seen one particular QP which I mention in 'listed for sale' thread here if anyone is interested or has any info/thoughts on that car -> https://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/index.php?threads/quattroporte-vs-listed-for-sale.33373/page-5

The other contender is Alfa Giulia Veloce - but I think this is not a forum to ask which one would you prefer :p

Welcome.

Lots of info on here re the QP.

Main checks are rusted out subframe and knackered variaitors... lots of other little issues, but no more than other cars.

Best of luck.

Warm welcome Vtec.
Putting to one side, that you're using a Honda screen name
Good luck with your QPV search. You'll find that many UK cars are 'known' to forum members.
So, when you find a particular car that you like, don't hesitate to ask about it here.
If I recall correctly, we don't bid against each other, if we find that we're both talking to the same seller.
All of the generic questions have probably been asked and answered already. Especially in this sub forum.
So, make search (top right) your 'friend'. ;)
Alfas are as welcome here as any other. You'll quickly see that questions involving the most unexpected
subjects pop up here and create deep rabbit holes of thread drift. So, don't hold back :)
Some of us have our first names in our signatures. Some don't. Use whatever you're comfortable with.
Might be a bit quiet here today. Apparently there was a ladies water polo match between England and
Andorra last night, that didn't go to plan. I never knew ladies water polo was that big of a thing

Haha yes now you made me aware. My name is Witek and you spell it exactly like V-tec hence the screen name. Never owned a Honda:)

Oh I didn't know.. for me last night was all about Maserati vs Aston Martin :)

As a GranTurismo owner I should ask why do you need 4 doors. GT s are basically the same car with fewer doors and still 4 seats but to me at least, more style. GT S is good value (mine, so biased). But for out and out fun MC Stradale cannot be bettered. Owning a Maserati is about fun and style. they turn heads and people chat to you about them. the Alfa option is a fantastic car but few people can tell the difference between specs without squinting and peeking at the back. On this forum it is very important to get the correct coloured brake callipers (yellow) otherwise you will be in darkness for ever.
Good luck and welcome.

Welcome, as with most forums you will get lots of opinions but generally here you will find lots of support and as previously mentioned there is a lot of knowledge and a lot of well known cars. When buying anything research is the best tool, and this is certainly the case with Maserati and that is where we can help. Most of us know the pitfalls, some admit to falling into them but all will help you avoid or at least let you know what you are in for.

Good luck with your search and if you need help just ask

Hello Vtec and a warm welcome to the forum. You have certainly come to the right place for friendly advice. We look forward to you finding the right car and joining us at a meet before too long.
I absolutely love my QPV. Looking at it. Opening the driver's door. Sitting in it. Glancing at the control pedals. Driving it. Hearing it.
Its all to like :)

Yes, the GT is (for me) one of the most / or THE most / beautiful coupes - but (for me) it is too eye catching on the road... Somehow I think QP doesn't turn heads so much - "ignorant" people might just think of it as another saloon (i might be wrong here) - and I am a person who doesn't like to catch much attention haha. Just want to enjoy my QP.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I can already see it is a quite a nice community here. Very helpful and friendly.

What is wrong with red calipers? I prefer red, sorry Gazcw :p

You are right. Not many people glance twice if you are simply cruising along. Kids don't look up from their phones if you are not making any noise so it is a perfect sleeper saloon around town.

Yellow is the only colour to have if you want exclusivity, kudos and respect (ignore my avatar I have only just bought it). :lol2:

Just looking at my Granturismo send a shiver down my spine. frankly all Maseratis are lovely and I think that is what it is all about. I worked bloody hard and long for my GT and if people hear me coming from a distance away then all good. Yes heads are turned and kids point (esp where I live in Manchester) and I love it!
I have had a total of 7 Alfas over the years and none was a head turner. If you need good advice on buying a QP or GT chat to one of the dealerships who post on the fora here. Richard Grace is excellent but a bit of a trek for you.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search, Richard Grace does deal in some amazing cars (I acquired my Stradale through him). Don’t worry that he is a long way away, you can fall in love with pictures and his reputation is such that you can have him deliver a car to your door in absolute confidence.
