Headlamp switch - sticky coating incident

It's a tale as old as time for Ferraris and Maseratis of a certain age, trying all sorts to get rid of the sticky coating. Someone on here recommended some fairly aggressive GTechniq G7 tar and glue remover which does work well on the other surfaces. I had my dash apart in order to do a heater matrix replacement and thus thought I'd have a go at the sticky headlamp switch. I dosed it in the stuff and went off to do something else. Unfortunately when I came back to it the switch disintegrated! Now I have no headlamp switch. Looks like the usual Alfa 166 parts-swap-favourite one fits from eye, but all those on ebay look in grim condition. Other than spending £200 on a new one, anyone have any leads on a replacement?
