Hi guys,
I spoke to a couple of nearby Herts/Kent independents and a nearby Dealer about this - they all said it sounded like a oil sender having an off day, or bit of "something" working it way out the engine. If it didn't happen again, they all said it it was just something to put down to charachter! It hasn't so all fine.
Just thought I'd finish this thread off.
As for the handbrake shoes, when off the car they were actually fine. They were given a wire brush and the handbrake has significantly improved, but isn't amazing.
