Apologies for my music taste. But as you know us youngsters have no taste.

It's either the fact it's a 2013 and maserati realised it was pants and fixed it, or we need the exact same cable as you. That's going to be my next port of call, get hold is a pukka maserati cable.

Quick one Hoyin, does is display the albums or playlists?? Just curious as I have playlists for every artist on my itunes account and I stick every album in a single artist play list

Thanks hoyin. I'm wondering if the later cars had different software. Mine's over at Lancaster Colchester for a service so I'll check what updates are possible. The cable I have is identical to yours and came from a Ghibli where it worked the same as yours. I've also tried it with the same model iPod, so the difficulties must lie with the car.

I have two if you want one. I wasn't sure if a newer cable would address the problem. It didn't. Sale or return. Cost £9.95 off eBay. PM me if you want one. Worst case is you can play from the iPod and charge at the same time, you just need to also control it from the iPod, which isn't so useful.

Are they proper maserati ones adam?? That's what I want to try next as I do have a cable already but it is different in looks to the maserati one, it looks same as my bmw one which I tried but it didn't work. Which means each manufacturer must cross over the pinout configuration in the centre bulky part.

My next steps are try a proper maserati cable and if that fails try that Bluetooth device.

I seem to remember when I joined this forum last June there was a friendly guy who worked for Bowker Maserati, is he not still kicking around to quiz about it ??

Can I get the older one please adam ? I don't mind keeping it even if it doesn't work or if you would want it back assuming it doesn't work with me that's fine I'm easy.

Can do a quick bank transfer to you today if you're ur comfortable with that?

That is a good question. It says playlist and not album on the car display doesn't it.

I think it may be playlists only? I have all my albums organised as playlists in my iTunes.

Maybe you should give that a go?

Sorry not in the Masser. Weather is too good for it.

Thanks for the updates, hoyin. My two are also originals. Good thought on the playlists. I'll give that a whirl when I get my car back from its service.

Could the fact Hoyin used one and this post on a forum be a way forward I wonder

Perhaps only a nano really works for whatever reason ?)

I think mine is a Nano. I have an old one and a newer one (the little square thing) and both don't quite work in exactly the same way.

Thanks for posting that Mikey, will double check what my 2009 car manual says to see if it's the same.

Mine's fairly silent (ha! - sic) on the matter, which suggests it's a bit too dim-witted to grasp the concept of controlling an iPod.
