GTS insurance

Hi Guys

Just bought a lovely black on black GTS privately. The seller dropped it off to the house around noon. I then
went to my computer to transfer my Swiftcover policy from my 997C2S (now sold) to the GTS, but they dont cover maseratis!!!

Have the spent the whole afternoon trying to get a quote but have not had much luck. Have insured with admiral for £1900 quid so I will at least be able to drive this weekend.

On Monday I aim to find much cheaper insurer and cancel admiral. Any tips on who to go with for a cheap quote?

Your help will be much appreciated!

I phoned around a few companies yesterday for insurance on a spyder that I'm not now buying (!) Anyway, I could't get any sort of quote out of A-Plan or Aon Footman James. However, I got reasonable quotes (£500-ish) from Performance Direct, Peter Best and Admiral (for two cars on the latter). Peter Best seemed best (sorry).

The GT & GtS are not cheap to insure.....try A Plan my GT was around £900 but in the end went with Chubb via Lockton at £800 . Also try getting a quote through Supercarhub............most will require the Tracker to be activated, Chubb don't.............

Scotpak, do you mind me asking how old you are? £1,900 might not be too far off the mark.

I'm 34 and I insured 5 cars with Admiral last year for £4,000, of which the GTS was £2,000. The others, a Mini Cooper S, Lotus Elise, 4.4V8 X5 and a 530 were all £500 each.
Due to my Mini Cooper S getting stolen and a recent Deer collision I reckon that will go up quite a bit when I renew next month.

You could try the likes of Heritage Classic and Performance car insurance and put it on a limited mileage policy.
I don't believe you need proof of NCB with them, but you also don't build any NCB either - this may not be 100% accurate.

I'm 32 with 3 points for speeding and no claims in last 5 years. I live in caversham reading which isn't too
Bad for crime.

Was paying around 1000 quid for my 997 so didn't expect to pay double for gts.

I would give Mercury West Associates a go (MWA).
Was quoted upwards of £1000 for my Maser, they did it for less than £600 through CCI so have free track day cover too!

Am with Locktons...worth giving them a try...
both mine insured for agreed value, limited mileage policies (5,000 & 7,500 miles),
premiums are £560 each.

I have used First Point (www.tailoredinsurance.com) for a while now and my '11 plate GTS they insured for less than half of the Admiral figure, albeit I am an "older driver" (a fact I try hard to forget!). First Point were introduced to me by H R Owen when I got my first Maserati and have been a pretty good outfit so far.

Im told Enzo that you have to be ferrari owner as that policy is through/or for ferrari owners , or that is what he told me when i complained that my quote was alot higher than yours, never ever claimed, and im an older fart , and cars garaged/ on the drive , no rhyme or reason sometimes , it aint logical

What gets me is that they change the ball park , you can never really tell if the reasons for increasing prices is true ,

In which case if you can get it significantly under £2k I'd be very interested to know who did it, as said above I'm not looking forward to my renewall.

Cheers,
Dan

Ahh, you may be right Loz, I did not ask that as both were quoted for at the same time...
they do have some sort of relationship with the FOC, as I got a years free membership.

It's a pretty friendly place here, with a good bunch of people.
You're not to far from me and Matt if ever you fancy a blast with another couple GTS's, and you're also not far from the Ace Cafe where we normally hold monthly meets.

Look forward to seeing the pics and hopefully seeing the car on the metal at some point!

Just to update you guy. Ended up getting a good deal with nowell and richards.
Price was £1550. I paid extra to get protected no claims and excess
Insurance whick took price to £1800. Thus not a bad deal in the
End as I didn't have those extras with my porsche insurance.
I also decided not to subscribe for navtrak for £300 as insurance didn't
Require it!!!
Thanks for your help guys.

Good news on the navtrak. I have it for the first year in the vehicle price but worth knowing for afterwards.

My A Plan arranged policy gives me a new car if mine is written off in the first two years rather than the usual one year.
