Hi all

Opportunity to purchase ex UK 2006 GS has arisen. Unfortunately no much by way of history but great looking car& low kms 37k.
Is there an online UK gov. authority that can provide info as 2 whether a veh. has been written off & repaired -( we call these repairable write offs but have to be declared on a central state register).

Only car info available is the VIN # & engine number.

Txs in advance

Hi Adam welcome to the forum , yes there is but it not goverenment, but run by the insurance and finance companies , its called HPI just google it and you will have many companies that will charge you around £10 to access the register for a report on the vehicle , you get differing grades of service from accident register to mileage checks and whether the car is still on any kind of finance , might be worth directing us to the car someone might know the car

TRy this Adam , dont recognise the car , you could ring Maserati GB Tel: 01753 878888 ask for Kevin Crocker quote the VIN and he will tell you if all the recalls were done and the original spec of the car then HPI it as per the link below

If the odometer is in kms, either the speedo has been changed or it isn't a UK car. If the speedo has been changed, it has probably done more than 37k. Sounds like you need to be careful if it's got no history and has had a respray.

I have to agree with doodlebug on this one. Aussie auction houses have a lot of mixed cars. Maserati & Ferrari are even more exotic in Australia because there are so few of them. The odometer will have been changed due to ADR rules in Aus. All cars need to meet ADR's otherwise its not legal on the road. If this car is as clean as we should assume I don't understand why its in an auction house. Dealers hog good cars. See if you can track the dealer who did the ADR there are very few of them who can legally do it. This should easily lead to original colour, Uk dealer who provided the car and a reasonable amount of that very important missing history. Remember there will be a import plate mounted on the car under the bonnet.

Loz comments are also worth following up on.
