Although I have posted once or twice I thought now would be an appropriate time to introduce myself as I have just placed a deposit on a 2005 Spyder with Vintage pack and the remaining money is somewhere between the Australian and UK banking system :)

I live in a small village about an hour north of Melbourne at the foot of the Macedon Ranges - so as you can imagine lots of nice empty national speed limit country lanes to make the most of the new car once it arrives from the UK. I have some pictures but I'll wait for some better quality ones before I post them, I want to do the car justice!

I know a couple of members here, Dicky and Marios sourced/sold the car to me, and George and Robert who have both been a massive help in answering my hundreds of questions regarding the import process. Thanks to them I am only mildly nervous instead of a shaking mess :)

Anyway I'm sure you all know how excited I am as you will all have been in the same situation as me, it's just I have the agonising 10 week wait for the boat to arrive and compliance work. Still she will arrive right in time for winter over here, oh well it could be worse and be an English winter :)

Anyway I look forward to being a part of the forum and I'm sure it will be a valuable resource for a new Maserati owner like myself,

Rich

The same applies here Rich. I too was given invaluable assistance and it is now a pleasure to see that I may have been able to give a tiny bit back.
Well done mate and i look forward to seeing it in Melbourne.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone......yes this is my first Italian.....actually my mother had a Fiat Uno when I was 17 which kind of became my car but that probably doesn't count  I drove an Elise when I lived in the UK....loved the car and stupidly didn't do my research and assumed I would just pick another one up when I moved to Australia, little did I know the state of the car market here. Anyway 6 years after moving here, and an Aussie V8 in that time (it had to be done), I am very excited about the Spyder and looking forward to learning all about the world of Maserati ownership!

Well Rich, we all had to start somewheres and by the looks of it, you're starting from a nice place! Providing its a good one, its just the same as any other car, except, if something relatively innocent goes wrong, its costs a few bob more to fix! Have a small warchest ready to start with and just keep an eye on her. Enjoy, and enjoy our forum
