Granturismo Seat Upgrade and Racing Harnesses

The 2 seater Strads seats are made by Sparco. Therefore, you could probably buy the OEM base/brackets and fit your choice of Sparco seats on top.

They are not cheap, but nevertheless a quarter of the cost of the OEM seats.

It is done…..!

“And Frankenstein stepped back from the operating table, wiped the sweat from his brow, and cried into the darkness, “It Lives, IT LIVES!!”… And so it was, and all it had cost him was months of toil and research, the endless use of a hammer, and the damnation of his own soul, but his creation, the realisation of a dream, was complete…. The only question remaining, would God ever forgive him for taking the reigns of creation into in his own hands…..”

Lol, sorry, getting a bit dramatic. Anywho, I did it, and it turned out ok…. Purists look away now….

It’s now officially a two seater. Back seats are dead weight anyway so they’ve been sacrificed. Front seat belts are gone because the seat-belt stalk is actually connect to the seat itself and they’ve gone. So it’s harnesses all the time now.

So job done. Racing brake pads, racing brake fluid, new boot spoiler, wheel spacers, seats and harnesses, tow strap and I’m on my way….

Each to their own but well done for getting around the issues you faced.

I would remove the reference to getting future MOT’s, from the public forum. Not everyone will realise that what you are saying is they would replace the seats, reset the warning light, issue the MOT ;)

Fair enough, removed.

I know not everyone’s choice to do something like this but everything is fully reversible. I’m keeping the original seats so can always retro-fit.

New seats are considerably more supportive than the old ones. Not exactly Maserati spec but then I didn’t need to spend ten grand on them either.

As it’s now done 73,000 miles and is not really worth selling any more, I thought I’d create a track day toy out of it for the fun of it. Currently driving through France en route to Italy for a bit of a road trip to test it out….

Nice one, i commend your enthusiasm and your determination to do what you want.

It's the lightest car, nor the most powerful but as a former Stradale owner, I know why you want to make into something even more special.

Next stop is to throw away the skyhook, upgrade the brakes, lower the centre of gravity and enjoy!

Yeah suspension is next, for sure. Also a giant racing wing Then decals of some sort. Then huge brakes. The list is endless and quite challenging. Will see what money allows. It’s a bit like getting an entirely new car, bit by bit without actually buying one. The process is interesting though

Great effort! There is a great thread on Maserati life of a chap who prepared a MC shift for the track. I seem to remember he removed tons of sound deadening. Go for it.

Of course, I'd add a liberty walk body kit

Well done, excellent effort

If you need any ideas, feel free to have a walk round my Trofeo - lots of weight saving and performance ideas - you can lose the a/c & abs for a start!

Good luck with whatever comes next

This is an excellent thing. Well done for making the change of seat. It must make the driving experience that much more involving.
