Granturismo S sport pack

Hi all

I am looking at potentially buying a 2011 Granturismo S and really considering an auto over the MC shift as I think I am one of those people that would suffer with clutch anxiety with an MC shift. I struggled with this all the time with my Aston V8 Vantage so an auto would give me more peace of mind to enjoy the car.

I noticed that there was a sports pack introduced in 2011 on the S that gave the 'super-fast' MC Auto Shift software for the gearbox and also fitted a new exhaust system that allowed the valves to be opened in sport mode.

Having read that the auto is a little less engaging and not as loud below 3-4k rpm would a sport pack car be a good option to seek out and did many owners spec the sports pack or are they rare?

If this is a rare option is there any third-party upgrades available to remap the gearbox software and bypass the exhaust valve?

Thanks

Trev

Someone will be along shortly with more detailed knowledge about the sport pack but MC Autoshift is a pretty good compromise if you don’t want the MC Shift automated manual. It include throttle blips on downshift and opens the exhaust valves louder in manual mode. It’s a great gearbox and the sound isn’t far off from an MC Shift

Welcome to the fold. Sport pack is pretty rare and was available as an option at £5500 on 12MY 11/61 to 12/62 cars. You can tell if a car has this if it has oval exhaust boxes and side skirts and a lipped boot as well as a gear knob. This is highly likely to mean it has a sport pack and therefore the upgraded gearbox software. Always spec check this with a main dealer as the aforementioned tweaks can all be retrofitted. There is a remote exhaust valve bypass kit available from Formula Dynamics but to my knowledge the software cannot be upgraded. The 12MY cars also had updated seats, better than 2011MY but not quite as nice as 2013MY Granturismo Sport’s Seats.

This is a sport pack car:

This car is standard Granturismo S without Sport Pack:

I’ve always thought the Sport Pack 12MY cars to be a great option, but they need to be around £5k less than a Sport to justify the purchase. They often are similarly priced to GT Sports.

Thanks Richard, really useful. Yes sport pack does sound like a great option to look out for but agree, needs to be cheaper than a sport so I'll keep a look out.
