Hi all,

I have done a bit of searching on here but can't really seem to find what I'm looking for.

I have 2 boys aged 8 and 5 and I'm trying to find high back boosters that fit well in the rear seats. I think the base needs quite narrow to have a snug fit.

Many thanks

Ben

The seats are huge in the GTS.
Just go to Mothercare and get them to try them all out for you.
Shouldn't be a problem. There are a range that will fit.

For a california and a vanquish however.... answers on a postcard.

Okay, so we just took a tip to Halfords and not one booster worked in the GTS as the headrest pushed the booster seat forwards so the back of the booster didn’t sit against the actual seats in the car and this was deemed unsafe.

I wonder if the actual Maserati one is any better as in the picture it looks like it’s in a Ghibli and not the GTS? Anyone have one fitted who can confirm the back of the booster touches the actual seat?

Many thanks!

I had bad experiences with Halfords too. Not sure they deal with the target market too often.
Mothercare had a iPad which checked compatibility so they only tried out appropriate ones.
Can't you move the headrest on the GTS back seats anyway?
I seemed to have a range of seats to choose from.
John Lewis are very good too.

What about the booster without high backs. I have two Maserati booster that are just the seat bit that my two were using from around 6. Not sure if the law has changed but I don't need them anymore.

Sadly the rear headrests are stuck in place and don't move. Maybe a trip to Mothercare is in order.

I think the Law has now been changed and the small boosters won't work.

The wife is also very safety conscious and wants side protection too, so it needs to be a high back one.

I have two full car seats in mine, surely there are tons that fit...

Thats what I thought!!

The problem is that when you lift the rear of the booster it rests against the car headrest and moves the back of the booster seat away from the seat and a gap is created which apparently is dangerous.

What about putting a pillow between the seat and the booster seat? This way there will be no gap. Also has the added benefit of protecting the leather.

The best one that I found was the Maxi-Cosi Airprotect. Because the seats are quite 'bucketed', I found that most booster seats didnt fit in the middle of the seat and rather spanned from side to side meaning the seat sometimes fell at one side meaning the child sat at an angle. The Airprotect has quite a narrow and curved base meaning it sits right in the middle of the seat (just). Sadly the isofix version was just that little wider and didnt work. Now admittedly, my son is only 4 so the booster headrest does not need to be raised so it just sits at the very bottom of the car headrest. There is a very small gap at the back near the top but after trailing loads in Mcare and Halfords, it was the best I could find...

I think that because my boys are a bit bigger and require the headrest to be moved higher the booster seat is pushed away from the actual seat.

I have just ordered an official Maserati one which I am told is the recommended chair for the car. I will report back once it arrives.

Hi Ben

Did you get the official seats in the end? What is your verdict vs usual brands?

I'm hopefully getting a GTS shortly, and have 6 and 4 year old girls. On a test drive, our maxi cosi one did fit, but had the headrest issue.

Also, separate point, does anyone with light coloured leather have any recommendations for seat protectors (to go under the child seat)? Most products on amazon seem to have at least one horror review of seats being ruined by the non-slip rubber backing on the thing that is meant to be protecting them!

Thanks

James

Amazon graco maxi junior - spend £35 and be happy :)
I had 2 maxi cosy / pebble for my newborn and toddlers with isofix family bases. Huge set up and fitted nice. Then moved to graco on the elder one (5yo) and it works a treat in a smaller car than the GT.... so you’ll have plenty of space in the back

Thanks. That's cheap, but I do have a couple of maxi cosi rodifix seats which are pretty minimalist and fit well in terms of width/depth.

The issue (and it's not a huge one, let's be honest) is that the car headrest protrudes from the back of the seat, so the child seat headrest hits that first and doesn't sit back properly at the base. The official maserati one looks like it has the headrest set forward in the child seat to counter this problem, but it's hard to know how well it works without seeing it (and I'd prefer to hear from someone else before dropping £500 on a pair of them!)

I've the belt fit Momo seats (made by jane)in the alfa and QP, the backrest moves up and down and the base is not too wide or sharp.
Unless you can remove the head rest, then you will have a problem with pretty much all the high back boosters. The bases are all relatively similar and all will sit too wide for a proper bucket. The isofix seats dont rely so much on resting on the seat cusion so they may be better, but ive not tried one. As for the law, that's based on height not age, my eldest moved from the high back to the low booster at about 8 years, she could have changed sooner, but we like the extra head protection.

To protect the seats I have some padded full size protectors, both the top and bottom are nylon weave with foam sandwich - I've had no issues with them marking black or grey leather over the years.
