Hi folks. I'm planning to give the engine compartment a good clean this weekend. My plan is the following:

1. Remove engine cover
2. Us spray bottle to lightly damp dusty and grimy areas, leave for a few mins, wipe down with fibre cloth
3. Spray degreaser across all engine, let sit for 10 mins
4. Work degreaser into nooks and crannies with soft detail brush
5. Spray rinse with spray bottle (low pressure squirty bottle, not powerwash or hose)
6. Use dust blower to chase water off components
7. Dry thoroughly with fibre cloth
8. Same process with engine cover while off the car
9. Spray lightly with plastic and rubber conditioner and buff
10. Replace engine cover

Now, I know there is more than one way to skin a cat here. I've read various ways of doing this including sealing up electrical components and doing the whole thing with a hose on a hot engine and so on. And the above is a kind of chimera of some of the methods I've read about, but one that I'm more comfortable with than, say, the extreme view of 'Yeah, sod it, just powerwash it, should be fine' (seen plenty of people saying that on my travels).

What are you guys' thoughts? Should be okay this way right?

Second that you won't have any issues especially if she's just dusty under the engine cover.
Just run your fingers around the back of the cam covers to see if you have any oil leaking.
