Morning all,

Just in the process of replacing the rear discs and pads on my Gransport before it comes out of winter hibernation, as the rears where in need of doing based on a service advisory last year.
Are the recommended brake pads the EBC Yellow Stuff (DP4612R)? or is there a good alternative?. I've read various posts which reference Mintex etc, so wanted to be sure based on forum recommendations.

It looks like it has OE pads on there at the minute, so would appreciate as usual any guidance before i do the work.

Many thanks

Lee

I have the EBC Yellows and forum discs all round, after some new fluid the difference was night and day

The yellows do improve once they warm up a bit, not that they are bad when cold. Have no worries of taking it on a track if the need/want arises.

Mintex are softer quicker wearing with more dust produced and would fade quickly on track, but that is reflected in the price

I had EBC Reds on my 330i and they were terrible when cold I would avoid

On a side note i recall you saying you purchased the Kenwood Underseat SUB for your speaker upgrade. I did the same and found that it wouldn't fit under the seats in my Gransport, so i have it mounted in the boot area on the passenger side. Still sounds very good and added the bass that was missing from my speaker upgrade. It was also alot easier to wire up. I dont know what the difference in clearance is like with the 4200/GS seats but my seats but even removing my front passenger seat, there just wasn't enough clearance.

Yeah I was looking at the clearance while I was in there last night and at an estimate it was looking marginal to the underside of the connectors etc.

Also the instructions say to cut a hole in the carpet and I would rather not! Install wise it means that I need to remove the back seats again to run speaker cables from the NIT to the boot which isn't that hard just adds a little time. Might see if it fits in the bit under the boot floor where the tool kit is
