Feedback from a GC MC owner:-
I'm looking to get back into an Italian exotic and have looking at scratching a big F430 spider itch ...Just got side tracked by the grancabrio mc! Anyone got one? Know anything about them? It's purely a weekend toy (+eu road trip etc) ...Both amazing cars to me, f430 is my preference but I must admit I'm wobbling over the mc
...
2 different propositions and like the 430 so much even a over the 458!
Love the Grancabrio mc, look the nuts and noise is better than the 430 imho! 430 more the drivers car though. Hmmmm....
Hi Chillo,
Sorry for only posting a reply now - I only joined the forum a couple of days ago and just today discovered this thread...

To echo the posts by Maser Sod, AndyK, and hodroy below, the F430 and the GC MC are quite different cars in many. So it depends on what you want. You say you're after "a weekend toy" for road trips etc. But I it depends on how much you want to put on the fun emphasis and what your requirements are for the road trips. As you know, the F430 has only 2 seats and has pitiful luggage space (not great for road trips!) And although the GC MC's boot is considerably smaller than in the MC Stradale, it's not minuscule, plus you also have the rear seats for extra luggage space (or passengers for that matter! LOL).

Having owned both the 4.2l base GT and the GC MC, I have to say that the MC is a different animal. The base GT is a special, but comfortable and luxurious car. But it wasn't that 'fun'. Hence I also ended up buying a Porsche 981 Boxster for fun weekend drives/blasts. But having changed the base GT for the GC MC, I don't feel the need to keep the Porsche as well as the GC MC. The GC MC is not only special, comfortable, and luxurious (like the base GT), but has more road presence, very exclusive, and is such a blast to drive. The MC Auto Shift has the benefit of the smoothness of an auto transmission (like in the base GT), but much faster gear changes than in the standard autos. It is SUCH a different car to the standard GT. I love both, but the MC is such a fun car to drive, and it is the most 'complete' car I've owned.

As for the F430, although the design is quite old now (it's not that disimilar from the 360's) I actually prefer the lines of it over the 458. It has more classic lines which I think will age better than the 458's (IMHO). One of the problems is that I don't think they (exc. the F430 Scuderia) make you feel 'special' in the same way that a MGT/MGC does, as there are so many on the road. I too have toyed with the idea of getting an F430 in the past, but never actually got one as it never fulfilled my brief at the time. As per the comments below, it probably will be a sportier drive than the GC MC (due to a shorter wheel base, lower CoG, and being lighter). But is probably less of a 'complete' car. I guess it depends on what you really want from the car and how you will actually use it (e.g. mainly long road trips or mainly short blasts in the countryside).
I've seen a GranCab MC in the metal and it's a great looking car, super eye-catching. And super-rare. Have to say, 430's don't grab my attention any more.

ON the Grancab MC....STunning car and in the right colour looks very mean....(black looks fantastic)....A very different car from the 430 though........For me the GRancab MC looks better, sounds better and is better looking inside and out than the 430 but the 430 will be the better sports car .....Grancab is a GT more than a sports car.....
...
430 def the better drivers car but then look at the size of it compared to the GRancab MC......BUt the MC I think looks better and has more presence on the road....PLus that noise is to die for....Look forward to hearing what you go for.....

The Maserati would be far better as a European GT than a 430 and the technology is a lot newer, the Maserati also looks superb and is a rare beastie..!!

Amari Bianco Eldorado GranCabrio MC:-
Looks like that private sale mc @£88k was picked by Amari and immediately re advertised @£105k!!!! ...It's a white 13plate 2.7k mile car with loads of carbon trim, says deposit taken in the ad!!
You're right about it being the same car Chillo. I checked with Amari when they first put it up for sale, and the registration (and spec) is the same as the Bianco Eldorado one that was listed by a Private Seller for £88k! My concern was the car looks like it has been towed (been in an accident?!?) as it can be seen in the pics that the tow-hook cover is missing! I've got both the Private Seller and Amari pics / sale details saved (see attachment below for screen shot of the Private Seller AT ad).

Bowker Maserati Nero GranCab MC stock car:-
I have just sold our new stock GranCab MC in nero, nero trim with rosso stitching and lots of carbon.
Its not being delivered until late march, if you are local you are more than welcome to come and have a look
Hi Gary, Didn't realise you posted on here. I'm an SCD member but have just joined the Sports Maserati brigade as well. So chances are we'll either meet at Sports Maserati or SCD meet soon. As a GC MC owner, and having a passion for the MCs, I'm familiar with most of the UK GC MCs. Hence I was wondering if you have any pics of the car you could post / PM me?

Apologies for the lengthy post everyone!

Cheers,
T

Good to hear from you!
Unfortunately we have sold the GCMC and it is now in storage awaiting collection by the new owner.
there a a couple of pictures of it on here somewhere alongside a Ghibli picture, but bu**er if i can find them.
Wouldnt be appropiate to post pictures of the vehicle now as we no longer own it. I will speak to him as i do have some pictures of it prior to his registration on the vehicle, if he is happy i will post some on here.
I will be passing the forums details to the new owner.

Anytime you are in the area please pop in for a coffee, a few of the guys from here have and im sure they will agree we are a friendly laid back bunch.

Bit of an update!
I have just taken delivery of a car.... It didn't end up being a GC MC but the other car I was looking at!
Red cream f430 spider! This came up with just to good a spec for me not to go for it!
image.jpg
Previous owner put a lot of nice upgrades on including scud wheels, carbon/alcantara scud steering wheel, paddles and scud calipers/ceramics, fair bit of carbon engine bay/air box/mirrors/vents over a standard 430.
Factory options included my must have of the carbon race seats, love them! Lots of other good extras including carbon driving zone, hi power hifi, fire extinguisher etc. Recent new clutch (9% worn)
Also has a tubi exhaust which sings purrrfect! Yes, I'm in love! ha ha
Will have to scratch that GC MC itch at a later date now!

The 430 is getting quite cheap these days especially as people are now talking about the 458 replacement - Ferrari model life cycles are getting very short now.

Great for the summer, enjoy!

Wow, that is so pretty. Looks like the ideal spec with some tasteful additions to finish it off. Congratulations.

Any chance you could post a few more pics?

Sorry been very busy at work, couple more pics!
If that white GC MC with all the carbon that I posted about hadn't have been snapped up by Amari I would gone to look and may have pulled the trigger on it as I had not seen this at the time.
But I am really pleased with the 430! It really does feel special and is a proper event.

Will post back as I get on with the 430, will try and get a drive in GC MC at some point to see what I think.

Beautiful car. The shot of its nose peaking tantalising through the side of the truck... what a tease!

599 prices are falling. Still out of my budget but there are a few Fezzas becoming more affordable as the newer models hit the secondhand market. Happily my GTS still does all I need and more than a 599 ever could, and apparently in more comfort, too. But the hankering persists, d@mmit.
