Have you tried the other key ? I'm sure I had this happen once and just iether kept locking and unlocking it and / or tried the spare key.
I think I also tried opening it manually with the key once it beeped

I have the doors open now, but the boot won't open - only the manual door opening is working, not the soft touch

Moreover, the boot won't open now

Moreover, the parking brake light failure light is on and when I put the key in, things light up momentarily and then go out

The engine won't start - nothing at all doing there - and I can't remove the key from the ignition

The alarm / immobiliser is not responding to either key

Me thinks battery ?

I have the battery on charge now

after having got the boot open with the emergency release and retrieving the key from the ignition with the emergency release for that too!

I will see what happens once it is charged and yes, a new one is most likely needed.

Hi JPJPJP,

Sounds like the symptoms I had when my battery died. Batteries hate the cold so unless you're keeping it conditioned or using for at least 30 minutes a couple of times a week it'll go flat quite readily.

Good luck!

I have my car on a battery tender after I flattened the battery when it was less than three months old. Easily done. I was told that each start of the engine needs a 40 minute drive to replace the energy taken from the battery so lots of short runs can flatten the battery even if the car is used daily.

Hold old is your car. Could the NavTrak battery be flat?

Its a Sep 09 car

Can Navtrak tell if the battery on that is flat if I ring them do you know?

Will see what happens when the battery is charged

Wouldn't be the first time a car battery has needed changing at <4 years old and its not the end of the world

I remember when I had a porsche that the general consensus was the Porsche batteries were not as good as a decent Bosch battery, but were about 4x as expensive

Does the same apply on the Maser?

for instance, there is this Varta at <£100 that is higher rated

All charged up and back to normal now

Will see how it goes, I am reckoning on ordering a new battery sometime soon though

If you have a decent conditioning charger - CTEK or similar - stick it on that for a full day and see what it concludes before you go and buy a new battery. Could be it just went flat through lack of use rather than because the battery's goosed.

Get a decent battery charger/conditioner. Car batteries are not designed to be deep discharged, if they are then the plates get sulphated and it wont hold charge well after that point. If it's not too bad it can be recovered using a reconditioning charger - the ctek ones look popular.

EDIT: I type too slow
