Most of you know I have an Alfa Giulietta 116 which sadly has been ignored for a year or two. With the visit to see the Lotus (See other thread) also talked about the Giulietta as she is in the same garage.
She went there as she wouldn't run smoothly and they played around with trying to tune it but to no avail. Yesterday we started her up with the intention of moving her to a local Alfa specialist to have a go but she wasn't playing. However when they were cranking her over I noticed the carbs were moving a lot, I put my hand on them to hold them steady and felt them move and she started immediately, released my hand and she stopped again.
Diagnosis looks like the rubbers between carbs and manifold have perished, if we hold the carbs against the manifold she runs sweet as a nut but as soon as you release she stops.
A new set of alloy carb mounts ordered from Classic Alfa so hopefully an easy fix, fingers crossed.
