Hi lads

I am thinking of having some minor rust spots & the usual Ghibli bonnet rot put right. allso thinking I may change the colour.
I'm a very fussy bugger and want the job done 100% but not made of cash & with the value of Ghiblis a little low can't spend 10 grand with the top restoration firms.

A couple of questions for you to comment on

1 best people to do the work, looked at Alsa Automotive but very open to recomendations.

2 Colour change thoughts & opinions please.

Peter,

Isnt Alsa Automotive booked out for 12+ months? Pretty sure I read that on their web page...

I need to get a couple of things done on my GS and I was recommended the same guy mentioned on the GT-S daaged thread - Shane Willis at Prestige - http://www.prestige-restoration.co.uk/index.htm

I've not seen any of his work yet but I've heard good things about him.

Peter I would urge you to think twice about changing the colour if you don't want to spend a fortune.I would have thought to change the colour and do the job properly you are really talking about not only taking the engine out but probably the wiring loom too. Is it worth it????????

Peter the engine bay is grey like most fezza's of that era soit'snot such a big task. The only reservation I have is if I ever come to sell, but then if it's full doc'ed with photo's to show no prepaint damage it would notbe such an issue.

Thats what i was hoping to do if i bought a GS....
Buy the best one i could afford, then do the conversion and spray it black....
It is a gamble, you have to show colour change on log book that might put people off
I like yours being yellow, its part of its character!!

Ahhhhhh learn a little each day I never knew the engine bay was a contrast colour. I still say leave the original colour for the reasons outlined and because if you changed from yellow you would upset Adam

How long do you plan on keeping her??

If you dont love it and the mrs dont love it then change it and if you feel you cant sell it then change it back again?? A lot of money but cant see how else you can do this...

Prestige have had good write ups in the club mags. They do good work you can see examples on their website.

Check the stats though as I don't think yellow was that common a colour on the cars ( Or I may be thinking of the Cup version), maybe Enrico's site can shed some light.

In answer to Dems point Yep the wife hates it even in another colour, but I love the car just feel yellow is a bit much for me at 42.

Bal it is actually a very rare colour (Giallo Sprint) on any non Open cup car. I think there are two at most that includes mine, it was ordered without electronic suspension so quite a unique car.

Agree Pibbow...That would be the only thing that would put me off.....Buyers are always a bit wary if a car has changed colour.

How about a vinyl wrap if you want to do a colour change? That way it won't be permanent and can be easily removed if you want to go back to the original colour, it'll also protect the original paint from stone chips etc.
