Got a letter today from Maserati UK, there is a recall on the accelerator pedal potentially getting stuck behind the mat?

Anyone else got this?

It won't be A problem for MAF as the accelerator has worn the carpet away in his alresdy!

Yup. A couple of examples of USA owners getting stuck accelerating. Mats sounds like BS to me.

Dunno. Mine were not put back properly after a valet and they got all messed up. Mrs Catman's 147 had issues with the throttle if the mats are not clipped in properly.

Given the avoidance over the w/b issue, kudos to Maserati for responding to this.........no pathos involved ;)

It's because the incidents are USA based that they are responding. Maserati UK are the chocolate teapot of dealers, they have nothing to do with recalls, I assure you.

I was reading on the U.S based Ghibli forum about the recall. There they say a smaller and inferior quality accelerator pedal cover is being fitted, and even something about cutting out bits of carpet and gluing other bits in place. I for one cannot see how the pedal can get caught to begin with, and I certainly don't like the sound of those stories!!

Spoke to my dealer yesterday. He reckons that it'll be new carpet mats with better fixings to stop them coming free and fouling the accelerator.

I've got the Alloy pedal covers on mine so they better not mess about with swapping my accelerator pedal.

I got the recall letter today. It does mention throttle pedal cover in addition to the floor mats. I too don't want an inferior pedal cover replacement. From looking at the U.S based Ghibli forum, some say you can't tell the difference its just a little bit smaller, but one contributor said it was much cheaper looking!
I would like some definitive information, and I can't imagine how the mat fixing could fail looking in my car.
