If anyone's interested the dealers are e-mailing round offering c9.5% off Ghibli diesel and c11.7% off QP diesel if you take finance at c6.5% APR. As these are the opening published deals it would be interesting to see what they are really offering if you are serious.

They just don't understand how to sell them. They're great products and time will be very kind to them, i'm sure. I love my Ghibli, it's excellent. Shame that the package on offer, with warranty, aftersales and service etc is not up there with the Germans. The badge will only sell itself if they take away the public perception of reliability. We all know that it's not true but average joe is still scared and ends up with a BMW/Merc. They need to work on this. I can think of a number of ways they could do this, if only they would appoint a decent PR company to help them.

Thats the issue people who buy a Mazer usualy love cars...but most who buy transport will go for a trusted brand with long warranty and service plan that gives five years servicing for £500 rather than £500 for a oil and filter swap at a Mazer dealer esp if it can be transferred.

Which equivalent car/brand offers 5 years servicing for £500? I bought a 3-year service package for my Ghibli for £1200 which I think is very good. My GS costs more to service from an indie!

I'd be quite happy if they stop selling Ghibli's altogether. They have a dealer in my home town so I see far too many on the roads as it is. All seem to be bog standard diesels with those horrible 18" wheels mind you.

Drove past one on the way home tonight and was sat in convoy with a new QP whilst doing the nursery run last week. Stuck in slow moving traffic, there was a lot of staring going on.

I understand why they want to sell a diesel but when people think of a diesel they'll look for the history of the Germans. Diesel Maserati are a new thing and its going to take a while before the word gets around that they are reliable and worth having. They'll need to be patient.

That said I'd rather they dropped the idea completely. A diesel Maserati grates in the same way that a diesel Ferrari or Lambo would. I still have issues with diesel Alfas... <goes to find a dark room to lie down in>
