GHIBLI (and QP6) MAP UPDATES

Thanks @CatmanV2 for the files; have pulled them down and moving to USB as I type.
One check; it looks like the first package is to _downgrade_ the CTP version to 13 - that right? Does this make any notable difference?

If I understand your setup, I need effectively three different USB keys*, each with a folder called Garmin and the relevant updates in each. Apply them one after the other...

(* or just keep modifying contents of one)

Beyond that you need to copy the CTP software onto the stick in the right folder. Access the dealer menu in the MTC then plug in the stick.
Once that's completed you need to clear the stick and copy the map in the right folder to it. Then plugging that into the car will trigger a map update. This will take an hour +
Then repeat with the POI file.

I may have to wait until tomorrow as I don't think the battery will last for an hour, so I'll have to plug in a mains charger.

Thanks for the responses, @CatmanV2 . I've tried the packages, and while the version downgrade seemed to apply ok, the map update itself fails with a pretty vague error. See images.

Map update was not installed successfully. Please retry update procedure or contact your dealer for assistance.

(Contact your dealer, bah! Is there even one left around Cambridge?)

I went as far as getting a new USB key from Amazon (same as above) and, while that is indeed faster to copy to than the random assortment I had, it hasn't made a difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

As a last ditch effort, tried a microSD card in a USB reader - that seems to be working.
Thanks for all the help - fingers crossed.

Takes a while to run, as you know, so I left it installing. After an hour or so, went back and the car dashboard is turned off.
Upon launching the Navigation, it reports a new update - but "No detailed maps are available".
I can see the major roads in the area (A14, A1M, A428) but nothing local, and no addresses in the search.

That makes little sense. Did you leave the engine running?

Thanks to @CatmanV2 for trying to help me get the files downloaded the other day, it was an exercise in frustration but thanks a lot for spending the time with me trying to solve it.

I suspect the USB slot may have been damaged as it was always a bit glitchy when reading mp4 files (I moved them to the SD slot and now works fine). We went through the dealer menu to try to get the car to read the USB - no joy - and for whatever reason the car wasn’t seeing the usb stick at all.

The question is, has anyone tried the upgrade using the SD slot, or CD/DVD?

Not tried it, but can't hurt!

Thanks
is the how to on here ? ,

Yeah, think so, if not it's around on a thread or I can talk you through it on Whatsapp. There is a non-zero chance that it won't work or (very slim) you brick things, so make sure you're happy with the risk.

So far, with people I've worked with, we're 3 for 3 although one of them had some issues with th USB thumb drive that took some random prodding, but it ended up OK.
