Suggest you search the forum. In summary, you'd be better off buying a Gransport bumper. You'd have to make significant changes to a 4200 bumper.

Unless you have the facelift 4200 with Gransport style bumper.

Face lift bumpers can be refitted with GS lower splitter which were available via MDs or Eurospares for c £800

Quality certainly not in question for a moment and agreed there are nice touches. The overall effect is too busy to my eye. Less is more sometimes. The customer was given a raft of option and imho, like a kid in a candy store, got a bit carried away. No doubt the design team were keen to s̶p̶e̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶m̶o̶n̶e̶y̶ fulfil his wishes.

A one off bumper project would still be expensive but at least they would have to work to a defined template.

Thank you guys. A little bit surprised regarding the lack of options, I like the car but as John says in the Design Q video clip, I find it unfinished when it comes to the front or at least lacking (I like the rear of the Design Q but not necessarily the front). I've also reached out to Formula Dynamics in the USA and to my surprise they replied I am first one to ask (!). They suggested the same, get a used front bumper from a GranSport and ask a body shop to fit it to the 4200.

Blimey, some nice touches there although I’m still undecided as to whether I like it or not. Looks like a great finish though and what a project.
So he took a 4200 Spyder that looked 'like an MG' in to a car that looks like a Fiat 14...

I wonder if that car still exists and if owner got bored and bought something else?

I hate to think how much that cost!! Probably more than the car. Not to my taste sorry. gstroe, is your 42 a face-lift or a classico? Either way it can be done it will just be more expensive with a classico as it will be the whole front grill and bumper plastics. As others have said if it is a face-lift then just the splitter (and grill if you have the plastic horizontal slats) but I don't think it is a straight forward swap, I think some adaptations on the fixings are required.
Also (if classico) are you going to change the rear bumper to match the front?

Good luck refreshing Spyder George. 3 years ago I picked up a 2003 Spyder with manual gearbox that needed at little TLC in the bodywork dept, although mechanically it was sound with only 26000 miles on the clock. Fitted FD front brakes, springs, anti roll bars, full Larini Exhaust, Grand Sport body parts (like hens teeth to acquire!!) and then painted her Black with Yellow calipers. I reckon the Grand Sport accents are just enough to set off the Spyder without going OTT but then I'm slightly biases- never looked back and the car really handles well with the FD kit installed. Few pic's attached

Good times Terry! Missed you, the Mrs and the dodgy brake lights this time!
Eb
Good times indeed Eb- would love to have gone this year but the timing was up the left. Dodgy brake light is still doing my dome in as it works perfect very time I investigate what the issue is- maybe when I'm driving I'm not hitting the pedal hard enough

It is a 2003 standard trim Coupe GT
Apologies George- for some reason thought you had a Spyder. I'm in the process of of giving my 05 4200 GT the Grand Sport look and have managed to get a pair of replacement side wings. As it's a Face Lift will be on the look out for the deeper style front spoiler to complete the process- if anyone has one please let me know.

Terry

I purchased a GS one a couple of months ago from Jasst. It's now been sprayed GA to match the car. I just need to organize a date with SupranoStu to get it fitted and that is my car complete!

You seemed to hit it pretty hard and the lights didn't come on when we were coming down a Spanish mountain at pace. Took ages to get the seat clean!

Well done finding the GS spoiler!! Have just ordered a set of GS side wings from Sopranostu so will see if he has a spare GS Spoiler laying around also. Fitting the spoiler is not all about the looks. I have the GS Spoiler on my 4200 Spyder and standard Spoiler on the Face Lift 4200 GT- when you hit 170mph the Spyder front end is much more planted on the road whereas the Coupe starts to get a little floaty. Naturally these speeds are only reached on track

Adult nappies should be mandatory on Sports Maserati Road Trips. Oh and cable ties plus spare wheel!!
