As long as it's new registrations only then I can understand it. Let's face it if Audi can get the RS6 Avant down to 225g then things are not too bad.

If it is a retrospective tax of some description then it will be tough for Maser values. We have a V6 Audi TT, hardly use it but love it but it's value is low as it's RFL is £475 pa. Could get a lose worse.

I'm not entirely sure how they calculate the emissions tax over here in the UK.

My last two runarounds had 1.2 litre engines and I paid either zero tax or a nominal amount of 20 or 30 quid.

My Abarth is a 1.4, and the annual road tax on that is 180 quid. WTF?

New 3L Porsche Macan is 160g and £150 per year. The manufacturers have seen the emissions regulations coming and have reduced engine sizes, gone back to turbos and also brought in gimmicks such as engine switch off at idle in order to meet the new EU targets. As mentioned above lets hope existing cars are not impacted as the £500 road tax is bad enough.

It's square pegs and round holes in that the only performance cars with low emissions are diesels but diesels are going to be banned from cities.

All of this is part of the reason I will sit on my hands and keep the GTS for the next two years plus as I don't trust something not to happen retrospectively post the next election but hopefully my car will be old enough to be ok. However it would be a shame to buy something with over, say, 200g of CO2/KM as it could get hammered.

Just confirm that hopefully these taxes concerns only new cars ...
For used cars the registration tax is much lower, decreasing over the years and half price after 10 years (a 2004 Coupe would require roughly 600€).

In England are you still far from these levels ?
