6 for us too, why Haas have held on to those two for so long has always surprised me both seemed to be too comfortable to push to hard

So was Max as he was told to by his team. Think that’s why Red Bull mentioned it over the radio so it would be stopped.

It was well into the race when that happened though, advantage, if any, already gained.
When is a track limit not a track limit....

Agreed they need to remove the lack of clarity, in every other sport the line is in or out not in sometimes and out other.

That said great race, Verstappen and Hamilton are much closer and it should be good to see them racing each other for results. Also everyone else looks close so there should be a fair bit of mid-field action. Once again the F2 race went right to the line with tyre strategy being a key component of the racing

For all his 120 races to far, Verstappen still made crucial errors under pressure. Out of track limits, then sliding about behind Hamilton just enough to let Hamilton stay ahead. Verstappen may well be blisteringly fast but he's still not got the guile needed to beat someone so good.

I'm interested to see how the RedBull strategy of supporting a lead car goes this season as I think Perez is too clever and too quick to stand for that. I find it amazing that RedBull continue to stick with that policy when it's clear that it doesn't work. It's reliant on Verstappen being dominant and he is for 95% of the time but the other 5% he makes unforced errors and that blows the strategy out the water. Albon and Gasly, during their time at RedBull, didn't have the clout and experience to force the team to support them better, that was lost when Danny Ric left. But I think Perez may have it and can see him upsetting Verstappen and Christian Horner with top performances. He's also got a monied sponsor and that puts even more pressure on the team supporting him. As Mark Webber said "not bad for a no2 driver", hoping to hear Perez say the same.

But yes, happy to see Llando do well.

During FP2 the commentators spoke at length about the rules on track limits the FIA was pretty clear that the rule will be enforced in a strict way in practice and qualifying but in the race it will be examined "case by case" and track limits will be enforced where the driver is getting a clear advantage which was eventually realised at Turn 4 as a result the drivers were told not to cut that corner any more - it was where VES did the off track overtake towards the end

If you look at the facts it is a non story.

I agree, but let's say I do half the GP chasing you whilst exceeding track limits , gaining an advantage however small, to the point the undercut is huge, different story.

Binge watched Drive To Survive S3 the last couple of nights (quiet at work lol) Was very good again. I also, had a massive lump in my throat on a couple of occasions, both happy and sad, that was hard to hide from my work colleges. lol I love how netflix has managed to dramatise it. Brilliant.

Enjoyed the race today too. Its great how the whole field seem much closer. Good to see AstonM there too, safety car seemed much better suited than the Merc.

Yes the Vantage looked great and Lance did a good job. Seb hasn’t moved in from his dismal season he had last year with Ferrari. I have said from the start I really do not think he is the right fit for Aston Martin and they should have kept Perez. Perez driver of the day and rightly so. Seb has an erratic and frustrated style and that is always his down fall.

Checo is a far better racer than Albon and Stroll, hopefully he'll deliver some much needed fight to the Mercs, Verstappen was unlucky not to win.

Race direction is at fault for the Turn 4 indecision. In MotoGP, its clear, go off the track too many times in the race and you get a penalty. They even use hawkeye now so no human involvement.
Also, well done Lando and McLaren for 4th and 6th. Definitely the 3rd best team out there.

Red Bull lost that by dropping the ball on strategy - they waited too long to pit on both occasions. As usual the second RB car was no where to be seen there to split the strategy to cover off Mercedes.

RB may have a very fast car a powerful engine for 2021 but they really need to invest more time and money into strategy and bring that second car to the same standard as their golden boys no.1 car

It is potentially their season to lose but I'm sure their fans will blame LH for gaining 0.01s per track by going wide at a turn rather than their own ineptitude.

My question to that would be was Hamilton running wide for a disadvantage then? 29 times apparently.

Another peculiarity was Perez, he had an issue on the parade lap, so the field did an extra parade lap. This is counted as a race lap (?) and the subsequent total of proper racing laps for the race is reduced by 1. Perez didn't do that extra parade lap and therefore did 1 less lap than everybody else...
