Fluids

I checked my fluids today.
Granturismo: 30,000 miles, serviced 2 months ago, healthchecked three weeks ago.
May be unnecessarily concerned since I checked the oil level cold, without the recommended engine start, cut out and wait 5 minutes. I'd be surprised since the car's only done 30,000miles and it was checked at Dick Lovett's three weeks ago and looked good, except the engine oil had been overfilled, and they drew it off to max level.

I do think my coolant level is low though, and saw a tell-tale pool after parking the other day: possibly faulty expansion bottle.

Be that as it may, there will come a time when I may wish to top up me fluids, engine oil and coolant/antifreeze

Engine Oil: Recommended: Shell Helix Ultra 5w-40. Api SM/CF
This is still available, but it looks as though there has been progression, with Castrol Edge Titanium Sport 0W40 Oil matching if not improving on the spec.

Coolant: Recommended: Glycoshell CUNA NC956-16.
Doesn't look to be available, but Comma Xstream GG40 Antifreeze Ready Mixed (corrected reference) fulfils the CUNA Spec. Concerned that the correct anti-corrosion and inhibitors are included.

Am I being too fussy, and what do you use?

I'm considering Mobil 1 0w40 since it's pretty top notch and is $22 for a 5qt jug at Walmart (and I have a ton of it for my leaky Cayenne Turbo).

You may have cut and paste, but do NOT put oil in your coolant reservoir!

Stick to the recommended stuff. Avoid mixing types. Always check per manufacturer's instructions to avoid over filling (which can be as problematic as going the other way).

Thanks, quite astute, now corrected, should have cleared the clipboard.

I'll stick with the recommended engine fluid, still available through Amazon. Coolant less critical as long as it's CUNU spec is the same
