I reckon these things are fundamentally flawed. A 458 in the SCD lost it on a wet motorway whilst driving in a straight line. It hit the central reservation, spun and went backwards across all 3 lanes before hitting the hard shoulder Armco at about 60. Upwards of £60k damage. I wouldn't trust one as far as I could throw one especially in the wet. Or in the dry as the early ones were prone to catching fire.

Well...it seems too many people drive them as they shouldn't be driven.......and all the electronic aids and stuff aint worth a ball of blue when you run out of traction

Plenty has been written on this incident on various forums, concensus is driver error so hard to pin the blame on the car

The inflamable issue also well documented, fundamentally poor initial quality control, rectified with retro fix etc so should be safe

These are wonderful cars, driver ability more often than not is the issue when such incident occur. Driving our cars in the wet isn't the most gratifing experience :)

Well it takes 2 to tango..........ie too many people believe the hype.....all those stability, traction controls systems etc......forgetting that man cannot defy the laws of physics............but yeah...mostly driver error, lack of experience, skills and when it happens off track...a big bill

The guy involved is a very good driver. He was driving in a straight line, without acceleration, in wet mode and it suddenly kicked him into the Armco. He wasn't driving aggressively and nothing has been pinpointed as being the cause. Having seen the on-board video, I am of the opinion there is a fault with the electronics. Whether its just his car or a generic programming fault I wouldn't like to say.

You should try driving a good 3200GT fast in the wet with all the aids switched off,Its very difficult......but it wouldn't chuck you in the barrier on the straight

It does seem that way Ian....He certyainly didn't seem to give it some as he started the pass..........Very odd.....Thing is we don't know if he had it in race mode so he could show boat the sound.........It was very wet and anyone that has a 3200 and has driven out onto a very wet road from stand still knows it can get a bit bottom twitchy........
