When my engine gets warm I get a squeak coming from the belt drive system on the front. It's related to engine speed so I suspect that it's one of the idler pulleys or belt tensioner. I have tried to identify which component is the cause by squirting each pulley with a little WD40 whilst the engine is running but this hasn't helped. It's strange that it only starts to squeak once the engine is up to temperature – all is quiet when the engine is started from cold. At the weekend I intend to take the belt off and manually turn each of the pulleys but I'm worried that I won't find anything as everything will be cold.
I was wondering if any of you have ever experienced the same problem and could point me in the direction of the most likely cause?
If not I think I'll order a new belt, idler pulleys and tensioner from Eurospares and replace the whole lot.
Thanks for your help.
