Dropped in on my friend David at Valley Classics today and he has just collected this to sell. Monster 7 litre Chrysler unit with a 3 double barrel Carbs (too naughty for the US and failed 1972 emissions tests! Probably ok for ULEZ though!) Apparently, 'in this configuration the engine produced 385 bhp – an astonishing figure for 1971 that eclipsed both the Ferrari Daytona with 352 bhp and the Lamborghini Miura P400SV with 380 bhp. Just 232 examples of the Interceptor SP were built.' They do like a drink from what I read!! Always liked Jensens, and so unusual to see an SP out of captivity; that one looked a nice example.

It looks pretty solid and the ramp has not found the usual rotting sills. Has all the paperwork including original invoice and the last owner had it for a few years and had a lot of mechanical restoration done. I will check but I think somewhere close to 30k is going to be the asking price. I reckon it would help if you were good at keeping carbs balanced and don't plan too many long trips as I suspect it would be easy to see single digit mpg if throttles are opened! It's all relative I suppose. My middle son is a bosun on a small Superyacht and he tells me they are getting through 1200 litres an hour so what are we moaning about!

plus you would need a form of Mexican 'tache, Ray Ban Aviators and very slim fitting trousers above the knee......

Awesome cars, remember chasing a standard Interceptor up the M1. Mates dad had a Leyland ST dept. tuned MGB GT V8 and the speedo didn't drop below 140, imagine his surprise and ours when we followed it into Knutsford services for fuel only to see a tall blonde model in tight leather trousers get out of the drivers seat at 16 I thought I had died and gone to heaven

Closest I’ve come was a yellow FF Dinky Toy - so been a fan since young. That would also be worth a few bob now in good condition..
